I've gotten a number of promotional email messages from Rogers, encouraging me to try their "Anyplace TV" service.
So, I decided to give it a try on my Samsung Galaxy SII. I was surprised to get a message saying Anyplace TV is not compatible with my device.
It's kind of suprising that a Rogers service doesn't work with a Rogers phone!
I tried calling tech support, and after a considerable amount of digging around they managed to find a list of supported devices.
It's a pretty short list. Most of the phones Rogers sells don't work with "Anyplace" TV, including the Galaxy SII and the iPhone 4S -- two of the most popular phones out there.
Tech support assured me that more devices would be added eventually, but couldn't give any time frame. I asked where I could find the list of supported devices, and apparently the list is only available to tech support employees!
Does anyone else find this surprising? At the very least, they should make the list of supported devices available online. In fact, it should be in the initial email message so I don't waste my time trying to download something that won't run.
I have the Blackberry Bold 9900 and I have the app installed on my phone. It is included in my value pack and I can't access it on the phone. When I try to, I get an error message saying it can't authenticate my account. I have called Rogers and they couldn't even figure out what the problem is. I was bounced around from tech support to customer care to blackberry specialist and even digital TV? And still, my issue isn't resolved so I am paying for a service I can't even access on my blackberry but my kids who both have the Blackberry 9810 have no problems accessing the Rogers Live TV.
The latest development is that I can now install the Anyplace TV app on my Galaxy SII, and it runs, but as soon as I try to actually watch something it gives me a message saying "It appears your device is rooted", and refuses to run.
My device is not rooted, and I have no idea why the app thinks it is.

Mine wont let me use it. It says "This app is only availeble to Rogers wireless users" and I assure you I am.
