Re: Rogers Home Monitoring - Q & A Thread

I would try rebooting the pad first.

You can do it through the services menu I think..

If not, you will have to un plug it, and also pull out the battery.

Hopefully a reset will fix it.

Trying to remember.. if on the tablet part.. if there is a volume up/down button on it.. maybe it was turned down?

All that failing.. get them to send a tech out.  The tablet is 'rented' with the service and not owned, so they can just swap it out and re connect everything.

Re: Rogers Home Monitoring - Q & A Thread

Our home system was installed in feb of this year. The front door camera records/gives alerts when motion is detected. However, it only detects motions from bugs flying by or from the wind moving the bushes, it’s not alerting when actual people are at the door! How do I fix this??

Re: Rogers Home Monitoring - Q & A Thread

Hello, @Grahamcarr

Welcome to the Rogers Community Forums! 😃

I can see how being alerted for such minor things like bugs while a person is undetected is quite concerning! It sounds like the sensitivity of the pixel motion detection on the camera is set too high.

Please follow the steps from the following thread: Click Here to see how to adjust the sensitivity of the pixel motion detection in your camera.

Let us know if issues are still persistent on a lower sensitivity.

Re: Rogers Home Monitoring - Q & A Thread

Hi,

So we checked and our motion sensitivity is already set to "Low". The setting below that is "off".

And further thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Rogers Home Monitoring - Q & A Thread

Hello again, @Grahamcarr

Thanks for looking into that setting for us. Since it is on the lowest setting already the next step would be to try to adjust the angle of the camera so it is not facing anything that can easily trigger motion detection.

You can also choose to enable 24/7 recording on that camera so that you will capture everything from that camera. You will need to insert a 64 GB Class 10 SD card into the Touchscreen to enable 24/7 recordings.

Re: Rogers Home Monitoring - Q & A Thread

I used to be able to set the rule in the app so that it would take a video when the camera detects motion but that is no longer an option. Which kind of makes the camera out front a little pointless. Am I missing something??

Re: Rogers Home Monitoring - Q & A Thread

Good evening @Westgirl,

Welcome to the Rogers Community!

You can certainly learn how to use the Smart Home Monitoring mobile app or the Web Control Centre to create, edit or delete customized automation rules.

Mobile app:

  1. Sign in to the mobile app using your MyRogers credentials.
  2. Press Automation on the bottom of the screen.
  3. Press ‘+’ at the top right of the screen.
  4. Press Rules.
  5. Select the type of rule you would like to create:
    • Schedule – At a specified time, take a specified action.
      • Select A Time of Day Occurs.
    • Event - Take specified action when something does/doesn’t happen.
      • Select either My Security System Changes or the A Sensor Detects Something.
  6. Once a Rule type is chosen, select the desired conditions and actions in the sections/screens that follow. The options available will be based on the type of Rule you chose to create.

Web Control Centre:

  1. Sign in to the Web Control Centre.
  2. Select the Rules tab.
  3. Select Rules in the drop-down menu.
  4. Select Add Rule.
  5. Select the type of rule you would like to create:
    • Schedule – At a specified time, take a specified action.
      • Select the Schedule radio button.
    • Event - Take specified action when something does or doesn’t happen.
      • Select either the Event or the Non-event radio button.
  6. Once a Rule type is chosen, select the desired conditions and actions in the sections/screens that follow. The options available will be based on the type of Rule you chose to create.

Note: The purpose of a Rule is to cause a single action to occur under specific circumstances. To have two or more actions occur for the same Rule type (i.e., schedule or event) create additional rules.

If you have set rules and it is not working, check out the Troubleshooting Rules in the Mobile App support article. 😉

Let us know if you need further assistance!

Re: Rogers Home Monitoring - Q & A Thread

The Roger's Web Control Centre says that it has been deactivated everytime that I try to use it. Also, I am aware of how the rules work but there is no longer an option for what I would like it to do like there was previously.
Which is:
Everytime the camera detects motion it takes a video.
That is not there anymore. The only options are any sensor or any non-motion sensor.
When I chose any sensor the options are:
Open or Close
Open
Close
Trouble
Does not open or close

None of those enable me to do what I want...

Re: Rogers Home Monitoring - Q & A Thread

Hello, @Westgirl

Welcome to the Rogers Community Forums!

I know how important it is to have your rules setup properly especially the camera rules. It is true that the Web Control Centre has been deactivated. All modifications can now be done via the App interface.

To set up a camera rule to take a video clip when detecting motion follow the steps below:

  • Click on "Automation" in the bottom tabs of the App
  • Then press "Create Rule" then press "Create Custom"
  • Under When this happens... press on "Select Event", there should be an option for "Motion Sensors" on this page, if not, the system may not be paired with your Motion Camera properly.
  • Select "Motion Sensors" then "Motion" and press "Add"
  • On the next screen under Do this press on "Select Event"
  • choose "Cameras" then press "Take Video Clip" on the next screen
  • You can save the rule as is, at this point, or you can add a notification option to have the video clips emailed to you

Let us know if this works for you!
