New to Xfinity TV - how do Flex channels work?

Nickles
I've been around

I just got xFinity installed yesterday and I am a bit confused. I see that I have quite a few Flex channels, but they are duplicates i.e. A&E on Ch. 31 and 308, CNN on 33 and 109, etc. Now, if I wanted to add a channel like Cartoon Network for instance, can I swap out one of the CNN channels (say 109) for the Cartoon Network? Or would I lose CNN altogether (are the 33 and 109 tied together)? I just spent $50 on theme packs when I could, in essence, swap out one of the duplicates for a channel that I really want. Can I do that?

Which TV package do you subscribe to?  The current Xfinity TV packages (Essentials TV, Popular TV and Ultimate TV) are fixed-channel packages and do not allow any channels to be exchanged,

Back when we did have Flex Channels, swapping out CNN for another channel would cause you to lose it on both channel 33 and 109.

As for Rogers channel allocations, they initially placed all their channels in the 1-99 range.  They still do that for their most popular channels.  Since they started offering more than 99 channels, they place those above 100 and group together common-themed channels, such as news, children's programming, movie channels, international programming, etc.

This is odd .... I need to renew my contract and a rep (chat) told me I could choose the lowest level that had 10 ''flex'' channels. ( flex channels were quoted several times in the chat) ---- Who should I believe ?  The chat person or the rogers web page ?

thanks for any advice  -G-

I honestly do not know what to tell you.  I do not work for Rogers.  It is a fact that different agents have access to different deals and offerings, and not all offerings are visible to all agents or available to all customers.  It is entirely possible that some (perhaps all) agents may be able to offer you a Flex 10 package.  It's also possible that they may see Flex 10 in their systems but will be prevented from completing the order.

Thank you ..... your posts have been a great help in the past.

Rogers seems to have changed in the two years since I last had to make a bundle decision. Barebone "Essential" is quite the jump to "Popular TV" level.... both in service and price. ---- oh well it's  life.

Thank you again.
