Ignite disconnecting from vpn

Jen91
I've been here awhile
I just switched to rogers ignite. The one thing I was was I wanted to make sure the switch didn't interfere with working from home. I never had any issues prior to switching. Now, my VPN disconnects and reconnects every few seconds, causing all of my screens to close. I am unable to get anything done. I have no other issues with any other devices, just my work laptop. And the ignite app says my laptop is connected. So why is my VPN suddenly always disconnecting. It's definitely the new modem and not any other factor

Which VPN are you using?

I have several VPNs for connection to clients and never have a problem. VPNs Forticlient and Cisco anyconnect.

CISCO AnyConnect. It's very inconsistent. It will work for 2 hours then go in and out 10 times in 30 minutes. Work for another hour, then start disconnecting again. It seems to happen in busts. But again, zero issues for years until switching to ignite

Re: Ignite disconnecting from vpn

Good afternoon @Jen91!

I have personally used that exact same VPN without any issues on Rogers Ignite Internet, so I wouldn't suspect this issue to be inherent to the service.

Have you contacted Cisco or your IT support for assistance with this VPN as of yet? It's possible you need to adjust the settings after changing your Internet. -Corey

Is it inherent as in a defect, no, but definitely an issue with VPN in general.

1. I was on oxio (a rogers reseller using an eero 6) for 2 years, no issues.

2. switched to ignite, after a month, random drops and reconnects with Cisco AnyConnect. Some days it is 3-4 times, other times it is 5x in a 30 minute zoom session.

3. had a friend over using forticlient for work, he dropped out 2x in about 4 hours (that he noticed)

4. when I switch to using my phone as my hotspot, it does not drop out at home at all; it does not drop out on my girlfriend's bell, it does not drop out at work on wifi.

The common factor is ignite wifi, specifically something in the last few weeks for me.

Re: Ignite disconnecting from vpn

We're having the same issue since we changed to Rogers ignite and they changed the modem. My wife uses cisco any connect to work from home and it keeps dropping. The signal strength is good and works perfectly without the VPN.
The IT team from her work couldn't fix it. It's just terrible. Today she was working with an ethernet cable passing through our house.

Having same issues with Rogers Ignite and Cisco AnyConnect on wifi. Tomorrow will try hardwired.  It is is really annoying when this happens during Teams Calls.  I've disabled Advanced Security to see if this helps.  Don't have this issue when at work or using a Friend's connection with Bell Fibre service.  Problems seems to have gotten worse over several weeks.
