Microsoft is expected to release its next major Windows 10 update (Redstone 5) in October.
This update will make older anti-virus products incompatible with Windows 10 – including the current version of Rogers Online Protection (ROP).
In response to this, Rogers Online Protection 2019 is released to ensure that our customers running ROP on Windows 10 will not be impacted.
ROP 2019 will be available today, October 4th, for new installs and built-in to the upgrade flow for the existing ROP Windows 10 customers. These customers will be see Upgrade Message as below:
A Final Upgrade Message will be prompted after 10 days if upgrade has not been performed:
Some of the improvements include:
o Upgraded scanning/detection and clean up algorithms along with a new user interface
o Addition of Ransomware protection, Webcam protection and Wi-Fi security
This new version also removes Personal data filter, Safebox and Chat encryption.
As it previously was before, users upgrading from ROP 2015 to ROP 2019 will have to re-create any Parental Control rules.
