Introducing our current Rogers Resident Experts roster 2017

Hello Community!

It's that time of year, time to begin the next chapter of our Resident Expert program. In this update, we welcome a new face to our team but also saying farewell to some familiar faces.

We would like everyone to give a warm welcome to our newest member to our Resident Expert team, @gp-se!

If you're not familiar with the Resident Experts, they are tenured members of the community who have a demonstrated track record of posting helpful, objective responses and have committed a significant amount of their time to building the Rogers Community Forums.

They're identified by the Resident Expert rank and icon in the community:

Your Resident Expert Team (*new):

@gp-se *

We would also like to thank @jkroesen and @jimboden for their past contributions to our Community. We are sad to see them both leave our Resident Experts team.

Why should I become a Resident Expert?

Resident Experts get access to a private board where we'll be asking for feedback on Community-related decisions from design to features to programs; they also get a special rank in the Community and a few other exclusive privileges.

RE's are NOT Rogers employees; RE's are volunteers in the community and we're grateful for their help!

How do I become a Resident Expert?

We're always on the lookout for new members to invite to the Resident Expert program.  Do you consistently provide help to other users in the community?  Do you have a positive attitude towards Rogers and our community?  You never know … we might tap you on the shoulder one day!

Think we should consider you as a Resident Expert?  Feel free to reach out via PM.

Congratulations to our new Resident Experts!  We're proud that you've chosen to hang out here with us and share your knowledge and passion with the rest of the community!

I'm a Senior Advisor

Welcome @gp-se  I have been really impressed with your insights and knowledge, as well as the discussion of user needs that I have seen so far in your posts on networking side of things.  Do you have other areas of expertise, out of curiousity.

I am going to make some guesses here - it looks like the expertise of @robindp appears to be in the cable side of things and the settop boxes.

@Datalink appears to be primarily focused on Internet and gateway work - well appreciated along with @RogersDave as of late  Looks like @gp-se strengthens that mix even further.  @Datalink has also made some posts on set top boxes.

Looks like @VivienM is also specializing in the whole internet side of things.

@Gdkitty you look like you cover a mixed bag of knowledge on just about everything whether billing, new plans, plan by plan comparisons, troubleshooting and support with how tos and video's, you name it.

@Meowmix  Your focus seems to be on the reservation systems, and new technology on the video side, say like 4K, and a few other areas.

@OLDYELLR  seems to be you have a wealth of knowledge on just about everything Rogers, as well as the industry at large, packages, billing, cable, internet, you name it, you seem to have some information to offer.

And last but not least @Pauly  who seems to be able to get at those nitty gritty questions like phone settings, working with features of myrogers pages, various range of issues related to phones and plans and a broad range on a lot of things.

I probably don't have your skills and support completely covered, I just had a quick look over your historical postings and my own experience reading your posts and interacting with you guys, and it was helpful for me to take a moment and wrap my head around what each of you specialize and generalize in.  It helps me when I want to refer a post to one of you who may be working in a specific area.

Me, I am here just learning, trying to get my own answers covered, and covering things like comparison of services from a "poor mans" or "minimalist" view and how to calmly work your way through getting your concerns dealt with.  I have learned a lot along the way, and thank all of you, as you do this as users like us who just want to help.

Thanks to all of you and to @jimboden and @jkroesen for your previous assistance.

And of course, thank you to all all the other members, and some key ones who are frequently providing information to guide each of us along.  It is a good bunch.

My focus this year - determining my minimum needs in all of my services (home phone, cable, Internet, cell phones) and finding the best price possible as I go through the reality of living with less on less.  More for less really doesn't work in the long run.

Thanks for posting that Bruce!

I have always been interested in technology and computer hardware, and understanding how work. I hope I can share my knowledge and help a few people on the way.

Resident Expert
