Introducing our New Gigabit Wi-Fi Modem!

Hey Community!

At Rogers, we’re always working to bring our customers the latest in technology. On December 13, we officially launched our new Gigabit Wi-Fi Modem and started the DOCSIS 3.1 network rollout.

Gigabit Wi-Fi Modem (Hitron CODA-4582)
We’re launching a new Gigabit Wi-Fi Modem, so you can take advantage of the network enhancements as they become available. The new modem supports our fastest speeds and best Wi-Fi with built-in high gain antennas, dual-band connectivity and Wave 2 AC Wi-Fi, featuring Multi-User MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) technology. It also has a clean new design ideal for display anywhere in the home.

Existing Ignite 500u and Gigabit customers will be contacted to let them know they should visit a store for a free modem upgrade. The new modem rental is included in the monthly fee for those packages. If you haven’t upgraded to the new modem, you should visit a store within 30 days (or as soon as possible) so you can get your free modem upgrade and continue to get the best out of your Ignite Gigabit service.

Setting Up the New Modem:
The setup is easy. All you have to do is:

  1. Plug the new modem into an active coax outlet and a power outlet.
  2. Wait until the modem’s status indicator light (@ symbol on front panel) remains solidly lit.
  3. Follow the simple Getting Started instructions to launch Rogers Easy Connect from any smartphone, laptop or tablet.

But it doesn't work. The performance is pathetic. The wifi range is weaker than the ignite modem :(. And the speed is simply bad. Don't even get 150 mbps consistent on 5g.

I Plan to Stick Around

I just picked up this router today, CODA-4582 and upgraded to gigabit.   I gotta say, the wifi on it isn't what I was expecting.

I'm getting 900+ mbps download speed hardwired on 2 devices, not even getting 300 mbps download over wifi on 2.4ghz and 5ghz.

I was getting 350 mbps download with the CGN3-ACR over wifi.   I got quite the downgrade when it comes to wifi.

I Like it Here

We were just asked to upgrade to the new Hitront CODA-4582 wifi modem router and all the members of my family have been giving me grieve as to the degraded wifi signal in our 3 story house (basement and two upper floors). Really not happy here. Seems to be a poor unit judging by all the bad reviews on the internet. Will have to find separate wifi router to plug in to do all the heavy lifting....

Rogers used to have an option where, after a certain amount of time of "renting" the modem, you were allowed to pay a small difference to own it. What happened with that ?

And also, do you sell these ? Paying $12/month feels pretty awkward after 18 months considering that the price for one of these units can't be more than $200

Hi @Vladmin!

I regret to inform you that we no longer offer a rent-to-own option for our modems. Please keep in mind that renting does come with the added benefit of being able to upgrade to the latest and greatest modem as soon as it becomes available without an additional cost.

If you do wish to purchase the modem, you can find the pricing here: Internet Modems

Terrible modem. I had to “down grade” to the ignite modem. The GB modem can’t support nearly as many devices as the Inite modem. The speed is terrible as you add more devices. The Ignite modem works reasonably well. The range of both is only passable. Hardly the latest and greatest technology. I hope the new IP equipment will be better.
