Hello Community!

 

As we’re all spending more time at home, you may find yourself wanting to customize your Ignite TV experience or simply change it up for a bit. Some of our Ignite TV bundle packages come with specific Flex Channels that let you customize your subscription.

 

Based on your TV package, you could have a pool of up to 86 flex channels. The best part? The Ignite TV Channel Exchange is included in your Ignite TV bundle at no extra cost!

 

Here’s how it works:

 

Flex 5, Flex 10, Popular and Premier TV packages are made up of the following channels:

  • Basic channels: included in each package – these can’t be exchanged and are part of everyone’s Channel Selection.
  • Flex channels included: these were either added by default at the time of ordering or are channels you chose to add to your TV package in the previous month. These channels can be exchanged every 30 days and are part of the current channels you have access to watch.
  • Flex channels: the pool of channels from which you can select to exchange - they are not channels you currently have access to watch.

You can make unlimited exchanges within the first 30 days of installing your Ignite TV services or changing to a different Ignite TV channel package. After that, you can make unlimited exchanges once every 30 days.

 

You can exchange flex channels to replace ones already included in your package, or similar channels from different time zones. This will help you avoid paying for duplicate channels and give you a custom package that’s right for you.

 

Here are the steps to make a channel swap:

  1. Visit rogers.com and sign in to your MyRogers account with your username and password.
  2. Click Usage and Services.
  3. Select TV. 
  4. Click Exchange Now. The Personalize your channels screen will display.
  5. Under "Your Channel Selection," choose the Flex Channels you want to remove by selecting the X button next to the channel name.  You can select multiple channels at once.

  6.  Choose the Flex Channels you want to add by selecting their channel icons.  Make sure you have the same number of channels to add and channels to remove. Note: Tap the Info icon to learn more about that channel.

  7. Select Confirm Channels. A success message will display, and you can start watching your new Flex Channels right away.

How "unlimited" are the "unlimited exchanges once every 30 days"?  If I exchange 5 Flex Channels and then, if I made a mistake or I don't like one of them, can I perform another exchange that same day? ...or can I only exchange a group of Flex Channels once per month and then I'm stuck with that change for the next 30 days?

Hello, @-G- 

 

Thanks so much for posting a comment on our Blog post.

 

After the initial 30-day unlimited swapping period you can only swap once per month. If a mistake is made and the changes have already been processed you would have to wait 30 days until you can swap the channels again.

The Rogers Web site is absolutely y=utterlu unuseful.

 

Any of the links that are advertised in these blogs are not existant on My Rogers.

 

Any of the somewhat promising links simply loop back around to the home page.

 

Utterly unuseful.

@svetter  This blog post is almost a year old now and the "Exchange Flex Channels" online tool has also been updated since then.  FYI, the most up-to-date information on Ignite TV can be found on Rogers' support site: https://www.rogers.com/support/iptv

@Don1933 :  As outlined roughly in post 1 of this thread:  I assume you already have IgniteTV.

1. Sign in to "MyRogers.

2. Select "TV"

3. Select "Exchange Flex"

4. You are then presented with a table of available channels, some of which have a dark band around them (those already selected) and channels without a dark band.  As indicated on the right side of that page you need to select a channel to remove, and then select a channel to add.  It may take a few seconds for this page to come up, be patient.

5. If you are just starting with IgniteTV, some of the Flex channels will have been "preselected" so you'll need to decide which channels you don't want, unselect those, and then select channels you do want. You need to exchange one for one.  So if you unselect 5 channels you need to select 5 channels to replace those.

@wsmid : You said the same thing in January. Does that mean it hasn't worked for you for over a year?  It does work for most people. If it doesn't work for you, you can send a PM by clicking on @CommunityHelps and send them a message, so that they can change the Flex channels for you and look into why it's not working for you.  Make sure you follow the instructions outlined in my previous post to exchange Flex channels.

 

You can also do it via the MyRogers app - similar but not identical process.

Rogers now allows Unlimited FLEX channel Exchanges for everybody!  

 

It used to be that only the first month of your Ignite TV service had the unlimited option, and then after that first month, you could only make your FLEX channel changes once a month.

 

The Rogers blog announced the change at the end of May 2023, but since the FAQs and forum threads didn't mention any new policy change, I assumed that there was still a once per month restriction.

 

The Unlimited changes need to be made online, but I wonder what happens if you get an error message? Can you call/text Rogers multiple times a month to make the FLEX changes for you?

 

Anyway, I never thought that Rogers would offer Unlimited FLEX channel swaps for everybody (with ignite TV), but it's nice to be wrong when the changes are beneficial. 👏

Hi there, just joining. Question if I want to exchange a channel say 24 which is the same as channel 101, to channel 119, will it cancel both channels 24 and 100? Thanks for any replies.

Many "broadcasters" are mapped to many places on the "dial".

 

CP 24 - 24, 101

CNN - 33, 72, 109

CBC Toronto - 6, 136

Etc.

 

When you swap one flex broadcaster for another, you will lose access to whatever channels that broadcaster is mapped and you will gain access to whatever channels the new broadcaster is mapped.

 

Rogers often maps one broadcaster to several channels so that they can be grouped by themes - for example all the news channels are grouped together, as are sports, movies, kids, timeshift, etc.

 

One other reason is that the broadcasters below channel 100 were known by many seniors from the analogue days, so they like to tune into them there, instead of in other locations on the dial.

 

All of this extra "mapping" does not consume any additional resources (bandwidth) it's simply remapped "in the box" or at the head end.
