Not sure if this is correct forum ...
My elderly mom has had pay-as-you-go (talk & text) for many years. However, she has started to use her mobile phone more often. Also, I just read that pay-as-you-go is being discontinued later this year.
All this to say, I'm thinking of moving her phone onto my account. Has anyone done this before and if so, anything I should know or gotchas before starting this process? TIA

Hi @rdms,
Welcome to the Community!
Yes absolutely, it is possible to change your mother's line from prepaid to postpaid. To keep your phone number with a monthly plan please contact us at 1-844-235-3766 or visit a Rogers store near you.

@rdms, yes if you prefer a prepaid service, our chatr brand has plan options for you. You would be able to keep the number.

The thread starter mentioned a rumour that Rogers Pay-As-You-Go will be discontinued "later this year". Is that true? When? Will I be warned in good time? What will be my options? My balance expires September 2025.

@OLDYELLR : I started a thread on the topic of Prepaid ending. See link below:

What will happen to the credit balance? Do you know of any communication from Rogers regarding the discontinuation of the PAYG service, and what Rogers plans to do with the credit balances if they are not transferable?

Update ...
Moved my mom's pay-as-you-go plan to monthly plan ... Rogers offered $5/month talk + text plan with unlimited talk/text and unlimited international text. They say the cost will not rise (we'll see about that). As for the approx. $60 balance left on the PAYG, they offered the first 3 months free.
However, we were unable to move the new plan over to my account - the agent said there was a chance that we could lose the $5 plan because it's offered only to PAYG customers. We didn't want to risk it so we've left under my mom's account.
Hope some of this information helps.

Here's a thread dedicated to the topic: You should have received a text around October 22 - check your phone for that text. It may have been missed if your phone was off for several days around that time.
Post 1 of that thread outlines your options regarding Postpaid (Rogers/Fido) or Prepaid (Chatr) or a competitor and contains a migration team phone number. There's lots of discussion in the thread regarding options and regarding getting (or not getting) any credits from Rogers.
