Re: Pay-As-You-Go Roaming

Hello @Jchen1907,

Welcome to the Rogers Community Forums!

Being able to continue to use your phone while abroad is definitely important so you can stay connected to your loved ones at all times.

On the Pay As You Go plan you will be able to call and text as you normally would but the rates you are charged would be different. For China specifically, you'll be looking at $3.50 per minute for calling and $0.75 for each Sent text message and $0.20 for each Received text message. You will also need to ensure your handset can operate on the 900 frequency to make or receive calls.

For more information on Pay As You Go rates please click Here.

I hope this helps!

Regards,

RogersTony

Re: Pay-As-You-Go Roaming

It's great to know that roaming is available in China now. I still remember one year ago the PayAsYouGo phone I brought to China was not able to call or text, just like a piece of brick. This becomes much convenient even the charge is high. Thanks for the response.

Re: Pay-As-You-Go Roaming

I am planning to go to Vietnam.  I don’t mind paying a higher rate since it is really infrequent. But I cannot find the roaming rate for data use.  The rate table refer to gives rates for talk and text. For roaming data, it says “as per roaming pass”.  So where can I find the roaming pass?

Hello @krist8,

Thanks for your post!

In order to view the travel packs available, please click here.

Click on Roaming, and under that tab you'll find Data Roaming. You'll find all of the information regarding the Data Day Pass (24 hour duration) or Monthly Pass (30 days duration)

Please note that we cannot guarantee that the network compatibility will let you use data while abroad. This is due to the different frequencies being used by their carrier.  You may want to wait until you physically arrive in Vietnam to purchase the travel pack in question. On the Data Roaming page, it will indicate how to purchase travel packs and you will also receive a text message when you arrive.

Have a safe and happy trip to Vietnam!

Could I use that without affecting my legacy Anytime Minutes plan?

RogersShaun, thanks for the info.  Do I have to buy a package, or can I just use cell data without buying a package?

Hello @krist8,

When roaming,  if you do not already have a data roaming option on your account, you will automatically be presented with the option to purchase a roaming wireless internet pass when you try to access data services on your device.

Europe prepago - urgent

Hello. I am in Spain for three more weeks. I today purchased a SIM card but it won't access internet. Took it to a phone store and talked to someone who spent a lot of time trying...she spoke no English....vut the issue seems to be around "APN" - same in engliah i dont know. She showed me on her phone a place where there's a long lost of 'options' from which I think you select the provider but on my phone there's no such list.

Any help is appreciated. I need internet tomorrow!!

Hi there, not sure how rogers can resolve this issue for you as you are using another carriers sim card and need to setup the data access point (apn) for Their network not rogers network on your phone.

since you bought Their sim and are a customer of their network, maybe try asking a relative who speaks the language to call The customer service for that network to help you out?

Re: Pay-As-You-Go Roaming

What phone do you have?  Is it unlocked?  If it's not unlocked, it probably won't work in Spain with their SIM.  As for the APN (Access Point Name), I found the following comment over on the Digital Home Forum:

most of the iphones will automatically configure the data apn automatically when you insert the new carriers sim, same for android, there is the odd time it does not, so the people at the shops there are usually pretty helpfull in setting up your data access point for you on your phone.
