Rogers Frequencies

momotarotaro
I've been here awhile

I'm about to purchase an unlocked AT&T phone with the following frequency band:

  • 2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
  • 3G Network HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100
  • 4G Network LTE 700 MHz Class 17 / 1700 / 2100

I read that Rogers network band are:

  • 2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
  • 3G Network HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100
  • 4G Network LTE 1700 / 2100 / 2600

Will my unlocked AT&T phone have 3G and 4G on Rogers' network?

Thanks

Hello jermbos

One of my buddies at work has it on Rogers. Indeed it works. Uses the same frequencies. So you should be fine

I plan to buy Z3 compact from HongKong. And the supported frequencies are the following:

UMTS HSPA+ 850 (Band V), 900 (Band VIII), 1900 (Band II), 2100 (Band I) MHz

GSM GPRS/EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz

LTE (Bands 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 28) 700 / 850 / 900 / 1800 / 2100 / 2600

TD LTE Band 40

I am not sure if it would be compatible with rogers lte?

Hey just purchased a z3 compact d5803 from ncix online should arrive today or tomorrow just wondering if it will work with Rogers LTE, 4G, 3G, and any other data bands Rogers uses.

Don't want to be stuck with a phone that won't connect to my data.

Thank you!

Hello, I'm planning to buy a phone which has the following frequency.  Will that work with Rogers in Toronto in terms of 4G, 3G, and 2G?

4G

- FDD-LTE

- Band 1(2100MHz)

- Band 2(1900MHz)

- Band 3(1800MHz)

- Band 4 (AWS)

- Band 7 (2600MHz)

3G

- WCDMA (850/900/1800/1900MHz/2100MHz)

2G

- GSM (850/900/1800/1900MHz)

Thanks

Alan

Hello alanchicken

Yes it will work with Rogers. There is also a Thread made about Frequencies which Rogers uses!!

Re: Rogers Frequencies

I just noticed from another post that Rogers uses below frequencies.

- GSM/EDGE Bands: 850/900/1800/1900
- HSPA+/HSPA Bands: 850/1900/2100

- The LTE for Rogers is classified as 1700/2100/2600 combined also known as AWS

Does that mean it will work only in 2G (not 3G or 4G)?  I am not too familiar with these frequency thing.

thanks!

Hello alalchicken

It works on EDGE, 3G / 4G & LTE.

Hello,

Thanks Meowmix for the info.

For 3G, the one that I am planning to buy says "WCDMA" while Rogers uses "HSPA+" or "HSPA" although the "numbers" (850/1900/2100) match.  Does this matter?

For 4G, I guess it doesn't matter?

Thanks!

Alan

"WCDMA" vs. "HSPA" - technically there is a difference, they are often used interchangably in marketing literature.

For the purpose of our discusion here, you may treat the two terms as the same.

"3G" vs "4G" - even more marketing speak.  I'll ignore the 3G/4G term and focus on the frequency bands, which in looking at the specs you have posted, appears to be compatible with nearly all bands currently deployed by Rogers.

Hello alachicken

Those frequencies you posted & bands will indeed work with Rogers.

First, your comment regarding "big phone" - I have my doubts about either of these tablets will function natively as a phone (via cell company's phone circuits, and I don't count VoIP apps).

Second, looking at your specs, you are potentially looking at several variants.  The way it looks to me is that one variant of Tab S LTE supports 4G 800/900/1800/2600 while another supports 850/2100.  Assuming this is the case, 2G and 3G will work fine (as 850/1900 are supported on both 2G and 3G), but 4G you need the one that supports 2600.

Then for Tab Pro, you are definitely looking at two variants - T325 and T321.  2G and 3G support identical to above; on the other hand, it looks like T321 does not support 4G LTE, so you want to buy T325 instead of T321.  Even then, you will only get 2600, not AWS.

Again, notwithholding that these tablets probably would not function as native phones, regardless of frequency compatibilities.

Hello,

I am planning to purchase a phone from Taiwan. I was wonder if the Note 4 would work in Canada. (include 2g, 3g and LTE network) The following is the phone specification: GSM1900, HSDPA, FDD-LTE 1700(B4), GSM1800, GSM900, HSUPA, GSM850, FDD-LTE 900(B8), FDD-LTE 700(B28), FDD-LTE 1800(B3), FDD-LTE 2100(B1), FDD-LTE 1900(B2), FDD-LTE 2600(B7), FDD-LTE 850(B5)

Thanks in advance for the help.

I want to buy a phone with these specs, want to check if it works on Rogers 3G and LTE ?  Thanks!

2G: GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz

3G: WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100MHz

4G: FDD-LTE 1800/2100MHz      TDD-LTE  2600MHz

Hello nkwong0

The frequencies are the same on Rogers BUT we need to know the device name in order to see IF Rogers has the same bands that this phone has.

Re: Rogers Frequencies

Yes for 3G (has 850 and 1900) but I'm doubtful for LTE.  1800/2100 is definitely not use by Rogers, and while 2600 is listed there, most North American carriers use FDD as duplex for LTE (instead of TDD as listed in your spec.)

Hey FYI. I bought a Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime from Korea. Works flawless on the Rogers network.
This phone has the same specs as the Note 4, except for the screen size. Resolution is the same, processors the same etc...

Buying Korean version Note Edge

I've been around

Hi,

I'm thinking of buying a Korean version of note edge with the following spec

2G GSM GSM900,DCS1800,PCS1900
3G UMTS B1(2100),B2(1900),B5(850)
4G LTE B1(2100),B3(1800),B5(850),B7(2600), B8(900)B17(700)

Seems it should work with Rogers LTE for both B7 and B17.

I read this article

http://mobilesyrup.com/2012/10/31/rogers-confirms-that-2600mhz-lte-is-available-in-all-markets-where...

My question is: From the article, can I assume 2600MHz has completely cover the area of AWS? Therefore, missing B4 may not make any big difference for LTE coverage?

Thank you
