Rogers Frequencies

momotarotaro
I've been here awhile

I'm about to purchase an unlocked AT&T phone with the following frequency band:

  • 2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
  • 3G Network HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100
  • 4G Network LTE 700 MHz Class 17 / 1700 / 2100

I read that Rogers network band are:

  • 2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
  • 3G Network HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100
  • 4G Network LTE 1700 / 2100 / 2600

Will my unlocked AT&T phone have 3G and 4G on Rogers' network?

Thanks

Hello everyone.

I would like to sincerely apologize for giving the wrong information out. Some of us on here were being told the wrong information by some people. Samsvoc ia correct. Rogers will indeed use band 17 for 700Mhz on their device. They haven't said what device are able to use it but they did say most LTE device will be able to and inam sure the HTC One M8 and S5 will indeed use it.

If you live in parts of Toronto, Vancouver and parts of Calgary you might be able to use 700Mhz as of today.

Once again my sincerely apologizes for the mistake

I've been here awhile

I recently bought a phone from Hong Kong (LG g pro 2) with the following spec:

2G Network GSM 900/1800/1900
3G Network HSDPA 900/2100
4G Network LTE 1800/2600

At this moment I only see "E" on my phone. I understand that I won't be able to get 3G because the frequency doesn't match. However I know that Rogers has already launched 2600LTE. Does that mean I should be able to use LTE after configuring the APN setting?

Can any one provide me with a solution?

Thanks!

Hello Jamiektm

From what i can tell yes it should give you LTE on 2600 with Rogers. Did you put in the correct Rogers LTE APN Settings? You also need a LTE sim card for it. Make sure that the sim card u have is LTE. If its not, u will need to go to the store and get a LTE sim card for it which is $ 9.99+ tax.

Thanks for your reply. I got the LTE SIM card and I tried configuring the APN today. However I was only able to connect to 4G for 20mins, after that it went back down to "E" and never go back up again. Did I input the wrong APN setting?

Hey everyone!

I'm in Canada from the US for an extended period with an unlocked Verizon Galaxy S4.

Frequencies supported are

LTE: Bands 4/13; CDMA 1x/EVDO Rev.A: 800/1900MHz; HSPA+/UMTS: 850/900/1900/2100MHz; GSM: 850/900/1800/1900MHz

http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones/SCH-I545ZWAVZW-specs

I was wondering if it would be possible to run it on the Rogers network. Would love to know!

Thanks,

LTE band 4 - checked

UTMS 850/1900 - checked

GSM 850/1900 - checked

If your phone does indeed cover those frequencies, and SIM unlocked, then yes - it will work for all three networks under Rogers - GSM, HSPA and LTE. Smiley Wink

Hello Kallin

The S4 from Verizon will indeed work on Rogers GSM / 3G & LTE networks. As long as the phone is unlocked properly & you have a active Rogers wireless sim card.

Rogers supports the following frequncies

GSM/EDGE Bands: 850/900/1800/1900
HSPA+/HSPA Bands: 850/1900/2100

The LTE for Rogers is classified as 1700/2100/2600 combined also known as

"The LTE for Rogers is classified as 1700/2100/2600 combined also known as"

No - not combined.  Those are two different bands - band 4 [AWS, or 1700/2100, for which it 1700 is uplink and 2100 is downlink] and band 7 [2600].

Verizon GS4 does not support band 7 - only band 4; the other band [band 13] supported by Verizon GS4 is not being used in Canada as of this moment.

Hello rgl168

What i meant to say is that all together its called LTE Maxx ( old name)  & as combined i meant thatb Rogers uses those 3 on the netwrok.

We wont see Band 13 anytime soon in Canada anyways from what i am seeing so far.

Re: Rogers Frequencies

"LTE Max" is just a fancy marketing term - a way of saying to customers that they have two LTE frequencies bands (band 4 and 7), compared to the other guys (particularly the one with cute animals mascots) having just one.

For a phone to transmit on both bands (eg. both 4 *and* band 7) simultaneously, you'll need a phone that supports "carrier aggregation".  Not a lot of phones support this feature at this moment.  This will most likely be changed when 700 network gets more matured and mobile chipsets get further developed.

Hello rgl168

That's why they stopped using the term LTE Maxx.... There are only a few phones such as the Note 3, S5, LG G3 and if i am not mistaken the One M8.

With 700 on the way, many things will be solved including this and alot more.

Hi,

I was considering buying the LG G3, specifically LG-F400S/F400K/F400L and bringing it over to Canada.

I've looked at several different forums and some said it might, some said it will and some said it won't.

So I'm curious if the phone is going to work fine here in Canada, both LTE and 3G, as well as texting and calling too.

So far I figured out this.

And 4G / LTE at different bands LTE, LTE-A / 4G
K version supports:
GSM850, GSM900, GSM1800, GSM1900, UMTS2100 (B1)
LTE2100 (B1), LTE1800 (B3), LTE900 (B8)
S Version:
GSM850, GSM900, GSM1800, GSM1900, UMTS2100 (B1)
LTE2100 (B1), LTE850 (B5), LTE1800 (B3)

And I also heard that Rogers LTE Network uses 700, 1700 and 2600 and that S Version runs on 700 Mhz and 2600 Mhz but not 1700 Mhz which is mostly used.

Would anyone have any idea?

Thanks a lot.

Re: Rogers Frequencies

In the LTE world, the frequency alone is not enough to determine if a phone will work or not. What you need to verify is the actual band number.

The Rogers LTE network currently uses bands 4 (2100) and band 7 (2600).

In the last spectrum auction, Rogers acquired spectrum in the bands 12 and 17 (700 MHz).

Based on the bands you listed below, both of these phones would only work on GSM unfortunately.

Unfortunately you device will not work on Rogers 4G (HSPA+) and LTE networks. It will work only on EDGE and 3G.

Hi guys, I am looking to buying an unlocked phablet from China via eBay, and wanted to know if it will be compatible with the Rogers network with a data plan.

Phone says it works with 2G GSM & 3G WCDMA network.

2G Network Frequency: 850MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, 1900MHz

3G & UMTS, WCDMA 2100MHz

I currently dont hae the IMEI #, so I wanted to just know generally if it will work with those specs I posted above.

Thanks much.

Incorrect. 3G will work. LTE may not work depending on what band it is.
