Did you mean:

I've been getting messages that 3G retires 31 July. Now I have to do something by June!

I thought I have 2 months to replace phones. Suddenly it's only one month or I get charged "a one-time $75 3G administrative charge" and my "mobile device will lose connectivity shortly after this date"! Not July 31st?

How fantastic that Rogers finds way to charge you when they reduce your service!

And why "shortly after this date" when it should be 31 July as stated?

The rest of the Rogers site works, as do maybe 99% of other sites, PLUS I tried different browsers.

If they do something special on the only page to contact the "important people" I'm not interested.

My time has some value too.

Never assume or guess when it comes to the big telecom companies, if you want to know how long you have to use your old phone, this is a mistake by guessing how much time you have left. Just call and speak to someone if you are not sure where to find the information.

Again you talk nonsense.

I did not guess, or assume; THEY SAID SO FOR A LONG TIME: 31 July!

I do not know where you are magically pulling up these numbers from, 2 months? no where does it say 2 months not one person on here gave that timeframe.

The website clearly tells everyone what date your phone will stop working.  This information was known for as long as I can remember it being discussed on here.  No one had 1 or 2 months, this was given well in advance of the so called 2 months you speak of.

My dad knew of this and upgraded his phone loooong time ago TO AVOID DISRUPTION, this is the safest and best thing to do for everyone.

I already explained, but I'll do it again.

  • On May 29 I still had 2 months to get phones. I explained why I wanted to wait. 2 months should be plenty.
  • On May 30 it became 1 month or I get charged. A month is half as plenty, out of nowhere!
  • IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT HAPPENED MONTHS AGO! IN ONE DAY MY WINDOW WAS HALVED!

Would you like me to explain again?

why would you wait till may 29? just get the phone already, are you worried about the charges? it seems you knew the network was shutting down and decided instead of getting the phone right away, you would stretch your luck.

the $75 dollars charge is to pressure people to get a new phone that is compatible, its to pressure to get people off the old network, also people will complain, so instead of complain just get the phone now, who cares if its 1 month instead of 2,  the network is shutting down, why wait till the bitter end?

HOW MANY TIMES DO I NEED TO SAY IT! TECH ADVANCES AT HIGH SPEED! I CHOSE TO BUY LATE, WITH A 2 MONTHS SAFETY MARGIN!

IF THEY SAY 31 JULY THEN IT SHOULD BE 31 JULY!

but it does not say that, did you read the web site? the web site clearly states June 30, 2025.

This is the date that affects customers from making calls, believe it or not, this might sound strange to you but there exists customers who will continue to have an active phone number after theshut down date,  they cant make calls but their number will still be in the system, this is why there is another date.

you need help with your situation, so here is the blurb that relates to you:

If you need support, contact our specialized 3G migration team at 1-855-720-9035 or visit a Rogers Retail location near you.

It DOESN'T MATTER WHAT IT MAY SAY NOW! If it says that NOW, that's another reason to blast them. How can they change it that way.

This is what I got even as late as March:

"As part of our commitment to continually invest in our world-class network, we will retire our 3G mobile network on July 31, 2025 to pave the way for updated technology. "

why are you arguing with me? I did not make the rules, I am not rogers,  I am a customer just like you.  If you need support, CALL THEM, I posted the number for you, those are the people you need to argue with not us

Because you keep saying things that are irrelevant, don't make sense and are arguing against my post, seemingly not understanding my original post. Read it again, even if I explained it to you multiple times.

Maybe you should stop.

I did contact Rogers in multiple, unsatisfactory ways. I know how to contact them (except for the VIP that doesn't work anyway).

I'm hoping forum pressure may help.

If you understood the veracity of my post, maybe you would join in pressuring them, instead of going against me!

I've been around

I have the same problem and my problem is my home phone isnt 4 or 5G capable as well as all the other home phones I have researched! You can tell me what home phones are capable of 4G or higher so I can get one???? I have VTech wireless phones because my husband cant use a cell phone. I will await your answer. Its nice when upgrades happen but when there is no information on products that will work with new technology it isn't!

The 3G issue has nothing to do with home phones. You must be having a totally different issue with your home phone. Are the batteries in the handset(s) charged and good?  What problem are you having?  Do you get a dial tone?  Try unplugging and replugging the telephone wire at the wall and at the base station for the cordless phone.  Does the display on the handset display anything?
