Rogers Smart Auto

Just got an add about this on my phone.

(link on the front page of the rogers site now too)
http://www.rogers.com/consumer/wireless/smart-drive?icid=ba-hphb1con-hrcwrls-010117118

Many vehicles now you can get 'smart' connected.. where they have wifi built in (that you have to pay for the internet connection, etc.. commercials dont always tell you that :P), and some other features.

This seems to be a similar type thing.. sort of something that you could add to ANY vehicle which doesnt by default have it built in.

I've Been Here Awhile
Hi
In the past I got a error code. This started on two of my cars at the same time. OBD-II scan on both cars came up as no fault found. One car is a Volkswagon and the other a Jeep. In the past when I did have a issue on the Jeep it gave me the error code.

Roger.....

Re: Rogers Smart Auto

Very odd.  If it started at the same time with both cars, that sounds more like an update was completed and now, for some reason, both smart devices aren't happy campers.  That's the only thing I can think of that would cause faults from both devices at the same time.

I'm having the exact same issue. It started maybe a month ago, and yes, I have some error codes that come up with my VW Beetle, but until a month ago, it was just a single notification. Now, as soon as I start and drive my car, I get constant messages. VERY annoying because before it was just a single notification with the actual error. I love the device and have found it to be useful but this is really driving me crazy now

I have had Smart Drive for about a year now.

I was intrigued at the idea of my Vehicles being connected to my phone and getting updates on vehicle being tampered with and OBD II codes.

I have had it connected to multiple vehicles.

I was hoping there would have been  an upate to the OS.

The tamper notification is very slow, I would get notification that I closed a door 20 minutes afterwards.

In that time the vehicle could be half way to USA.

The reviews online indicate the app shows fuel levels, mine does not.

On a scale of 10. I give it a 5.

Will probably not renew the contract when it expires.

I am pleased with the OBD II codes that inform me of any problems with the vehicle.

The family enjoyed the WiFi Hotspot.

I use the trip info to log my mileage for work.

Updating the OS or App, speed up the notification and I may consider keeping it longer.

Hello @GaylePort                                                                                                                                                                             When I first got my smart drive it would not work/connect to the app.

After MANY phone calls to Help, I finally reached someone who actually knew what he was doing ( sorry I dont recall his name and SORRY I dont mean to say the others did not know what they were doing, Smart Drive was brand new then ). This person discovered my Serial number the sales person registered was not the same as what I had? it was off by one digit.

Re: Rogers Smart Auto

Hello @itchy,

Thank you for your post and welcome to the Rogers Community Forums!

As a current subscriber of Rogers Smart Auto, I was also disappointed to hear that the service was no longer being offered for sale. It really is a pretty handy device!

As of February 27, 2018, Rogers Smart Auto was discontinued. Existing Smart Auto customers will be supported.

Wow great business practice Rogers has.   I purchased two of these devices in the summer from Rogers and no one said it was disconnected.   I have a open ticket with support on getting over 700 messages a day on non existent faults for over 3 weeks.   Calling Tech Support has been a waste of time.

Re: Rogers Smart Auto

Hello @itchy,

What a great question! As long as you remain on a Share Everything plan with a Regular Consumer account type and keep your existing Rogers Smart Auto add-on active on your account, then you should be able to maintain the service. Keep in mind that a compatible smartphone and car is still necessary for the service to work.

If you were to move to a Non-Consumer Regular account type or change to a Non-Share plan or a Non-Consumer Share Everything plan, then you will no longer be eligible for the Rogers Smart Auto service and add-on.

Hello @rterhune,

I am not sure why your two Smart Auto devices were disconnected without your knowledge, but I would strongly recommend that you get back in touch with our Rogers Smart Auto Support Team to find out the status of your pending ticket and see if they can get you an update on that. If they are unable to provide some answers, see if they can escalate your ticket. Here are the phone numbers for the various avenues of support for this service:

Laura, any response for the others of us who are getting up to hundreds of messages from our Smart Auto devices that we didn’t get until this summer? The FAQs you mreferenced are of no help, and another person noted that the psupport desk wasn’t either.

Re: Rogers Smart Auto

Hello @klt1393,

I truly wish I had more answers for you at this time as I'm sure you'd like to see the matter resolved sooner, rather than later! 😫

As per my previous post, your best bet would be to reach out to our dedicated support team who handle all Rogers Smart Auto questions and concerns to see if they can provide some more information and/or to have a ticket submitted for you if not already done.

Kind regards,

RogersLaura

I've Been Around

Good afternoon,

I, have over the past couple of weeks, keep receiving a notification saying "Service Message" that will not stop appearing. There isn't anything wrong with the car mechanically, ie there is no specific notifications registering, and it says the car is fine. I have also used an OBD reader to check for faults and there is none. After a day of driving there is hundreds of notifications, and this is quite annoying.

Re: Rogers Smart Auto

Hello @aferg85!

Welcome to the Rogers Community Forums! 😃

As a frequent user of this service, I can understand how frustrating it must be to become inundated with all of these Alerts. It really makes it hard to know when something important is actually happening.

We have a team of specialists that support Rogers Smart Auto and should be able to find a solution for you. You can contact them Toll-Free by calling 1-844-896-5223, they are available from 7:00 AM - Midnight (EST) Monday to Sunday.

Be sure to let the Community know once you get this matter resolved as it will help future users with similar issues.

Rogers SmartDrive - Status and Vehicle Wi-Fi options

All,

After searching "adding Wi-Fi for vehicles" I came across Rogers Smart Drive ODBII module.  After further searching for it on the Rogers site, it appears to be gone.  What happened to it and why is there no news about it other than it's announcement two years ago?  If an alternative is available, I don't see one.  I would prefer add an always on Wi-Fi to my vehicle, however, the mobile hotspot on my iPhone doesn't always auto connect to my other devices.  Any updates and suggestions to the above would be appreciated.

Re: Rogers Smart Auto

Hello, @Pat696.

Welcome to Rogers Community Forums! 🙂

I appreciate posting your query of always-on WiFi options for your vehicle. As of February 27, 2019, Rogers Smart Auto (Smart Drive) service no longer available. We continuously review our product line-up to make sure we offer a variety of services that resonate with our customers.

Community - anyone using an always-on WiFi product in your vehicle? Please share the service details.

Cheers,
RogersMoin
