Re: Mobile Internet MF275R Rocket Hub

ZTE MF275R hub not powering up

We recently purchased a Rogers Rocket Hub (ZTE MF275R) off a friend.  We purchased a rural house, and decided that the Mobile Internet was the better option.  It worked fine from last Thursday to this morning.  For some unknown reason, it shut down this morning after I tried to establish a VPN session at work.  None of the lights are on.  We tried unplugging and tried turning it back on... nothing.  So, a couple of questions:

1)What steps do you recommend for troubleshooting a "no power/can't turn on" diagnostic?

2)If I purchased this from an existing Rogers customer, who no longer needed the hub, is there still warranty on it?

Looking forward to your comments and suggestions.  Teenagers not liking this downtime :-(

Thanks.

Re: Mobile Internet MF275R Rocket Hub

If you reboot the hub it might start restart with a successful connection to the Internet. Here is a tip I gave another member of the forum about restarting:

Look on the right side where the SIM card is inserted. Take the cover off the little hatch and you will see a hole without a label. Take a bent paper clip and push it into the hole until you feel or hear a click and hold it a second or two. This will reset your MF275R. It will lose any settings that you may have made including the password. Now you are free to do the password setting procedure in the Settings/Device Settings/Account. Management panel.

I would suggest that you start tracking down the problem with this. If it still does not work, you'd better contact the Rogers support line (and wait, and wait and wait...)

Re: Mobile Internet MF275R Rocket Hub

After speaking to Rogers support, we did multiple tests: battery pull, SIM card pull, hard reset using small button under SIM card door, trying to rest device using CAT5 connection and PC, Rogers tried accessing the Hub, etc... none of these worked.

When trying to login via a PC and CAT5 cable, the login window appears with the password, but it rejects my "admin" password. Strange.

Our phones and tablets can see the Hub and they connect automatically, but they get a message that the internet/network is unavailable and that we should try another connection. As well, still no lights on the Hub.

The power cable seems to work as the battery is slightly warm. Tried different plugs to ensure 110V is good.

Original owner is checking the original date of purchase as the warranty is 12 months.

Any other suggestions? Or, does this mean I might have to take the plunge and spend another $270 with taxes???

Thanks.

FTP with Rocket Hub

Trying to FTP images from my IP webcam, but no success.

First off, can we FTP images, via port 21, with the Rocket Hub?  If so, are there special settings?  What am I missing, or not doing right?

Thanks

Re: Mobile Internet MF275R Rocket Hub

Hello @nadine31,

Thank you for your post and welcome to the Rogers Community Forums! =)

Ensuring that your IP Webcam is working properly with your Rocket Hub is super important especially if you want to monitor it remotely.

You will need to create a custom APN on your Rocket Hub that is: staticip.apn or Ltestaticip.apn depending on your Network coverage. Then you will need to reach out to us to have a Static IP set up on your account to ensure your IP address does not change going forward. Please send us a private message @CommunityHelps the next time you're online and we can setup the Static IP for your device.

ZTE MF275R Rocket Hub - Need to add another router on Home Network to control Kids Data

Hi there folks,

I need to add another router on my internal network that i can use to control my Kids use of our internet service.

However the ZTE's routing options have been neutered and there is no Static Routing Option.

Is there another firmware package that is available with this feature enabled ?

Is there another Rocket Hub Hardware package with this option ?

Basically, I need to manage data usage of one user, through a LAN port.

If there us another option using the Rocket Hub, I am all ears.

Smiley Happy

Thanks

Re: Mobile Internet MF275R Rocket Hub

Hi @dalexopoulos,

Thanks for reaching out!

It's definitely important to be able to monitor and control internet usage with youngsters in the house.

Are you looking to set limits by time of day? Or be able to set limits by data usage?  A little clarification on how you're looking to set up control might assist us in finding you an appropriate solution.

Let us know!

Re: Mobile Internet MF275R Rocket Hub

I want to change the router IP  from the default 192.168.0.1 but all the entries are greyed out and when I hover over the fields the cursor changes to a red circle with diagonal strike.

I have entered my password and am able to change other settings like the wifi configuration.  I don't see any option for advanced settings.

Re: Mobile Internet MF275R Rocket Hub

Hello @kzj78,

Thank you for your post and welcome to the Rogers Community Forums! =)

I know how important it is to have your router setup the way that you like especially in regards to the IP Address.

The IP Address you have provided is the Local IP assigned to the Rocket Hub, our network uses DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) which dynamically assigns IP Addresses to each device on the Network. The IP Addresses are assigned for a specific period of time and after that time has expired a new IP Address is assigned. We do not have any ability to change the IP Address as it is automatically assigned. There is no way for you to change the Local IP Address on your end either unless you were to get a new Rocket Hub. Sometimes a reboot or factory reset MAY assign a new IP Address but its no guarantee and could be purely coincidental.

Is there a specific reason why you were looking to modify the IP Address yourself? The Community may be able to provide an alternative solution to any issues you are facing if more information is provided.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Re: Mobile Internet MF275R Rocket Hub

I'm using the ZTE to replace a Huawei B593.  The B593 is set to an internal IP and DHCP is disabled.   I then have a TP-Link A2600 for my internal wifi which is wired to the local lan port on the Huawei and the WAN port on the A2600.  This device had DHCP enabled with some static IP's for my printers and such.

My networks are 192.168.79.X for the A2600 and 192.168.78.X for the B593.    I just want to change the internal IP of the ZTE to match the B593 so I don't have to make any configuration changes on the A2600.

Seems very odd to me that I can't assign the internal IP of ZTE.
