I got an e-mail on one of my e-mail accounts this morning. Interestingly I only got it on one of our accounts, not the other three accounts that my wife and I have.
At first I thought it was phishing, but it appears that people who use certain e-mail clients (like Outlook) will have to reconfigure those clients for a "new password" (app password). Webmail doesn't appear to require the change.
The e-mail states:
Important: You must update your Rogers email account settings.
Protecting your data is as important to us as it is to you. Rogers is making several security upgrades and implementing a new authentication system to further protect you and your data.
Rogers requires you to update your email settings to continue using your email account.
It only takes a few minutes of your time to ensure you have uninterrupted access to your email.
There is a link as follows indicating the people who need to do this, as well as instructions on how to do it:
http://www.rogers.com/web/support/internet/email/442
Please excuse me if this is discussed elsewhere. I did try searching and didn't find a thread on this specific topic.

@BS wrote:@57 Sounds like a reasonable guess (yours is as good as anyone's on this), but I don't use an email client on the yahoo email - in fact, I don't access it period, except to test when someone mentions something odd.
Any remaining email that ends up at my rogers yahoo account is immediately forwarded to my gmail account. Although I did do so testing on old clients, so maybe you are right, maybe it has a record of us doing that.
I am reaching the point where my safest answer is: don't know why it works this way for you and not for others.
It still remains to be seen what Verizon intends to do in the long run with Oath (the new brand name for the combined Yahoo and AOL). They forced all verizon.net mail addresses into AOL accounts.
So the saga continues, again, why I moved everything. But I will keep testing and supporting as much as I can on this one until it reaches some kind of conclusion.
Good luck all and keep bringing issues forward as this "migration" of security and merger of companies works itself out.

Thanks Bruce for your direction in this matter. I decided to get an outlook.com email account because I could not get a decent gmail address. I use this for business as well.
It has nothing to do with using email clients etc... my last email client was in 2001 and that was Lotus Notes. I have a feeling Rogers wants to bring email in-house. How scary is that? Trick or Treat!
As it is, I am frustrated with Rogers. I literally have to call ever month to reset my MyRogers login to get my bill. Prices keep going up, services going down. This is it. Now that outlook is working, just a matter of time before I say BYE!
@User14The only reason i put my password in that box was because I called Rogers, listened to 35 mins of musack, and talked to a live CSR who confirmed it was their doing.
Be careful about pop-ups and sites that change or show up unexpectedly. They can easily be hijacks or phishing sites. Next thing you know - Yahoo and Equifax are answering to the US Congress.

You can get your own domain name, including for email, from Google. It costs about $10/year U.S.. With that you can have your email address look like a "real" business. You also get a DNS server, Google Docs and more.

For accessing Webmail I have created new bookmarks specific for the two e-mail addresses I have changed and will create another two in a day or two... Previously I only required one bookmark as all of my e-mail addresses were listed there...
Yesterday I created bookmarks for my e-mail sign-in page and was taken directly to my e-mails after typing my password.
Today, instead of taking me to my e-mails, I was taken to the member centre page where I had to click on "mail" at the top right of the screen. An extra step compared to yesterday. It also created a new tab in Firefox, which it didn't before when I clicked on "mail"
I guess we'll probably see more changes in the future...

Great idea @JKnott to @User1750246
Here is the link to Google's options for small business domain .extensions.
They aren't the only player, but it makes me think I will mention it to my wife.

My login process went back to the old, log into Yahoo, and it goes right to my mail and it doesn't take me to the member centre, but if I log out, it goes to the centre.
But I don't have that double step on login anymore today. Guess there is still some tinkering going on as they make these changes to the interface of Rogers versus Yahoo.

Which link doesn't work? The link in the e-mail sent by Rogers should work. It is as follows:

Hello,
Rogers has killed off my Thunderbird email client from a desktop computer. It will no longer hook up with my two accounts on Yahoo. I was warned with a final notice that this would happen but couldn't figure out how to fix it. I think you need an app or something according to this page.
https://www.rogers.com/customer/support/article/update-email-settings
I can get into my Rogers online account but when I try to enter the sign in page to look at account info it tells me, "Error: Sorry, we can't find the username or password in our records. Please try again" What! I just signed in and all of sudden I don't exist.
I've used Thunderbird for 14 years with Rogers and it's now considered an unsafe client. It's Yahoo that is unsafe. I download all my emails and leave nothing on the server, not even contacts, because of breaches of Yahoo in the past.
How do I fix this?
Regards ...

I'm using Thunderbird as well (version 52.3.0 (64-bit) on Linux). I set up my Rogers mail account with an app password a few months back when Rogers started nagging people, and I've confirmed that it's still working find (sent a test e-mail to and from the account). So, the app password seems to work; I guess they've finally pulled the plug on the old security protocol.
Have you tried setting up an app password (not an "app")? All you should need to do is to generate one from the Rogers Member Centre as described in "My email client requires an App Password. How do I generate one in the Rogers Member Centre?" on the help page you found, then enter that instead of your usual password when prompted for by Thunderbird. It should prompt you when the old one fails;
If you can't get into the member centre, though, then I agree you have a problem. Make sure you're using the primary e-mail for your Rogers account as you can have several. Your usual password should work here as with other online mail clients. If you can't get in, I suggest you call or chat with Rogers support.

Thanks SP,
I can't get into to do that at the moment. I will contact technical support to see if they can help. So it's basically creating a password they generate which is presumably stronger than your current one.

It also generates a unique password for each device. This means if you lose your phone, tablet, etc., you can disable email on it by deleting the device on the page where you create the passwords.
My old passwords still work, but I have just completed converting all my email apps to this.

How to migrate from Rogers Yahoo mail to Outlook?
We cut costs by purchasing a Microsoft Office package that didn't include Outlook some years ago with our last computer, and have been using Rogers Yahoo web based mail for many years as a result. We are finally upgrading and our new computer will have Outlook. Is there an easy (or complicated) way to migrate our email inbox/sent and other personal folders) from Rogers Yahoo mail to Outlook? Thanks in advance!

There is no need to actually migrate. All you need to do is to use the IMAP settings to set up your rogers email address in Outlook. It allows 2-way syncing, which means everything you do remotely is reflected in your Rogers Yahoo Mail account no matter where or how you access it. So you keep your Webmail and can also access your email through Outlook. Instructions are here.

Why do I keep getting this pop-up, on an irregular, random basis? I ignore it and it goes away and everything is normal. Why is it appearing?

Hello @Saskey,
I know how annoying pop-up messages like this can be especially since it keeps happening even after ignoring it numerous times. =(
We'd like to investigate this for you to see what could be causing this. Where are you seeing the pop-ups and how long have you been noticing them? Have you tried using a pop-up blocker on your internet browser? Can you send us a screenshot of the pop-up the next time this happens?
We look forward to hearing back from you!

Thanks for the follow-up. It is infrequent and seemingly random (I do have an active pop-up blocker). It is not a big deal as I ignore it and it goes away, but just curious/concerned why it is occurring. When it next occurs, I will do a capture and send it along.
Thanks,
Craig.

Good evening all
I have 3 Rogers e-mail accounts. Two of which I have access through my phone, the other 1 through computer only.
Until about a week ago, I have been able to access these accounts through Thunderbird, without a problem.
Now the one account is giving me the message: "Sending of password for user n*********k@rogers.com did not succeed. Mail server pop.mail.yahoo.com responded: Server error - Please try again later."
I am able to access this account through webmail (browser). But Thunderbird access is not working, where the other two accounts are.
I have checked the POP settings and all that other good stuff and all 3 accounts have the same settings.
I have tried to update (change) the password for the e-mail account in question, and have done so twice, updated through Thunderbird's password manager, and, same problem.
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks for looking, all input is greatly appreciated, have yourself a great day, Nancylb999

Thanks, I tried the link included below and it instantly redirects me to the Rogers home page...
https://www.rogers.com/consumer/home
I phoned Rogers support by phone and they told me they do not support Thunderbird, and therefore cannot help.
Anything alse you could offer would be appreciated.
Thanks

@Nancylb999 : I believe the following link might be useful.
Note that not only do you need the correct settings in the client, but as mentioned throughout this thread, you may need to update to an App password.
https://www.rogers.com/customer/support/article/yahoo-member-centre
You can also see previous discussions in the following thread regarding Thunderbird, where certain e-mails were unable to send:
