AS of Thursday my iPhone 7 and my Microsoft outlook for Mac2011 stopped sending emails. I can receive and my webmail works fine as do my other accounts. Only this one is being rejected.
The message on the iPhone is " Unable to send Email. A copy has been placed in your outbox the sender address was rejected by the server. "
On outlook it is"Request Failed - Message undeliverable" Error code 17099
Ive done all the changes for the password that were required and all my ports and everything is set how how it should be. I spent 40mins on the phone with someone in text support at rogers yesterday and int he end they said its not their issue and cant help me. I am going insane as I cant figure out why it stopped working after 8 years of no issues. Any advice would be amazing. I have read other posts and none pertain to my exact issue so I'm hoping someone else may have had this problem
Are you saying that you updated the app password, etc, as discussed in the following thread:
Here's further information since the link in post 1 of that thread may be dead:
If you haven't changed settings in a long time (years), you may also be encountering the certificate issue from February of this year, which also started affecting some people recently: Here are some links:
Five hours with rogers, apple, rogers and apple together....rogers blamed apple and finally admitted it was a rogers issue Oct 31
Started to have same problem this week....hours with rogers....they blamed apple....now at Apple Genius Bar and they have the same problem not sending with their computer and my IPAD....can reply to messages but not send without going to rogers.yahoo.com and no access to contacts.
Am fully updated.....back to rogers again....wasted day
Welcome to the Rogers Community Forums!
Thank you for posting your concern in the Community. Not able to send emails is definitely upsetting, I appreciate your patience. Are you getting any error message when you send the emails? What's the name of the outgoing mail server? Please update us with more details so that we can find the solution for you.
Looks like it the certificate, yet I cant find any fix that works for this... Did I miss something somewhere on how to fix this?
I believe this is the post with the settings. You need to use your full e-mail address and the correct server settings, etc.
Although I use pop.mail.yahoo.com, as my incoming server...
email rejected by the server
Not sure if this is a Rogers or ios mail issue, but hoping someone here has seen this and can suggest a solution.
If I send myself an email from my ipad, and use the autocompleted email address, the send mails with the message:
the recipient "....@rogers.com" was rejected by the server. (the address in the " " is correct)
If I type my email address explicitly, the messages sends Ok (and I receive it).
Thunderbird- some of my Rogers accounts can send others cannot
I have 8 Rogers email accounts and use Thunderbird v52.6 (32bit) as my email client.
Up until last week (and for many years), all these account worked correctly but now 5 of them will not send out messages.
I can receive and send messages from three of the accounts which (counter-intuitively) have "smtp.mail.yahoo.com" (port 465) as the server.
But I can receive but not send messages from 5 of the accounts which have the smtp server "smtp.broadband.rogers.com" (port 465). Have tried changing the stmp settings to the Yahoo server, with no success.
The issue appears to be the passwords between the last 5 accounts and the yahoo smtp server since I get an message asking for me to in put the password. When I key in the account's password, the server refuses to send the message.
Last year, I kept getting messages from Rogers to convert my passwords to a multi digit yahoo password. I did this but none of these work either. I have been successfully using my original ones set up for my accounts since then.
Can anybody help me restore message sending capability to the 5 none-working accounts?
Welcome to the Rogers Community Forums and thank you for posting your query.
Being unable to send e-mails is extremely frustrating, especially since it helps us stay connected with friends, family or work. We'll certainly try our best to figure out what may be going on.
Are you receiving any error codes in particular from Thunderbird when attempting to send? Can you replicate the same issue if you try to send via webmail? If you haven't tried that yet, can you please sign in HERE, with the affected account and let us know?
We look forward to hearing back from you! Community, please feel free to chime in with any further tips :).
@i75Dave : I had similar issues a couple of days ago with Outlook. The error I got was "Unknown Outlook Error", which isn't very useful. I was able to send from some accounts, but not others. Also, if I brought up the message which was saved in my "outbox" later in the day, it would sometimes then be sent.
Since everything worked before, and since there have been several (Yahoo/Rogers) issues recently, I just left well enough alone and used Webmail for a couple of urgent e-mails. After a couple of days, everything is working again. So, what I"m saying is that this may be a temporary glitch and you may not want to make any changes and see if things return to normal in a day or so.
