Unable to log into POP account

For about 2 weeks have not been able to log into email from Mac laptop (still works from iphone and ipad).

 

Seems to connect to SMTP server but will not log me in to PO. I've tried entering my password on outgoing mail server settings, but this does not see to make any difference.

 

Message I get from Apple Mail is "There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account "Rogers" or try again."

 

The log shows the following (an repeats although the account shows as "offline").

Have you updated your client to utilize an "app password". The following thread which is 1.5 years old discusses that issue even though some people have only been recently affected:
