Depending on your modem, I also had similar issues that drove me nuts. Assuming your signal level is good, try turning off the 2.4 Ghz wifi band, save the settings and power cycle the modem. That may resolve the problem.

So I went back to the store and they gave me a CGN3ACSMR modem which looks like the old one. Hopefully this one works fine. I had big wifi issues with this model before.

Re: Rogers Hitron CODA-4582 Hardware

That modem should update to 4.5.8.27 within the next 48 to 72 hours.  Still configured for gigabit service?

Can you edit your post and delete the CM-MAC addresss?  Don't like to see that hanging out in an open forum.  Is that ongoing or is the problem a "one of" situation?

I'm running on 4.5.8.22 firmware right now. I don't know what configuration I have but I have the 100mb connection. Current download speed is at about 180 I can't complain. Let's see if the connection is stable or it disconnects like the CODA. So far I noticed that the 5ghz wifi briefly disconnects and reconnects every so often.

Re: Rogers Hitron CODA-4582 Hardware

When you say that you have a 100 Mb/s connection, is that to mean that you're on a 100/10 Mb/s internet plan, or that the connected port LED at the back of the modem is green, which would indicate a connection to a 100 Mb/s device.  Amber denotes a 1 Gb/s interconnect with the device.

For the wifi, have a look at your wifi environment with inSSIDer.   See  who you're competing with in the 2.4 and 5 Ghz band.  The link below is for the last freebie version of inSSIDer.  It doesn't properly display the 802.11ac networks in the area so you won't see the complete picture so to speak.  For anyone else running 802.11n networks, those you will see.  There is a newer licenced version which does display the 802.11ac networks, so, if you do happen to use 802.11ac, its worth the $20 US to see who else is possibly using the same channels.

For 5 Ghz networks, try using channels 149 and higher as they have a higher allowable transmit power, 1 w versus the lower 5 Ghz which are limited to 50 or 200 mw depending on when the device received its Industry Canada certification.

Sorry, I meant I have an Ignite 100u connection. Dslreports and the ookla speedtest report about 180 which makes me more than happy as long as my connection is stable and I don't have to reboot my modem.

As for the wifi, I use mostly the AC 5ghz. On my previous cgn3acr the 5gh wifi would just disappear after a while and I would have to reboot the modem, let's say at least once a day. When that happened the 2.4 wifi would work fine but the modem page would be unaccessible, so I would have to fiscally power circle it. I thought everything would be solved swapping to the CODA but it actually made things worse as then the internet woul drop 3-4 times a day. Now that I have the cgn3acsmr I just hope things will be stable for a while. Although I liked having the 4x4 5ghz wifi of the CODA.

Re: Rogers Hitron CODA-4582 Hardware

Ok, understand.  Have a look at who else is using the 5 Ghz band that might be causing problems for you.  Never know what you might find.

I scan the 5 GHz band periodically using an Alfa antenna and the band seems to be pretty clean around here. Only two other WiFi's on 5 GHz compared to dozens on the 2.4 GHz.

My internet and cable signal has been donw since 3 AM this morning.  It finally appears to be up and now I am getting these errors.  Every so often there is no internet connectivity and it corresponds to those errors.  From the logs, I see that this has been happening for some time now but not when I was impacted.

Should I just follow others and use this CODA as a modem only and get my own router?

Re: Rogers Hitron CODA-4582 Hardware

disable 2.4Ghz and see if the sync errors go away. But you should just exchange your modem, I've been following your posts and notice you have a ton of issues with your CODA.

Re: Rogers Hitron CODA-4582 Hardware

I would also call tech support just to see if there is a wider issue on the go within your local area.  That would probably account for being offline since 3 am, but, you never know.  There might be another reason that might come to light in conversation with the CSR.

I can't get higher than 5Mbps upload on Ignite 250.

I'm on firmware version 2.0.10.13.

Running in bridge mode.

Sent a PM to @RogersDave. I'm hoping to be put on the latest trial firmware.

Also, I'm using ethernet port 3.

I've obtained 20Mbps upload almost consantly with the previous modem I was using.

Wi-fi is disabled in the modem, and it's in bridge mode. Distance is a good 6 feet from the router.

I have a similar problem.  I have at least one of these messages per day on the docsis event page:

SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Loss of Sync

The tech I spoke with on the phone who also installed my TV and internet services said that it wasn't an issue if it didn't happen frequently.

I've been here awhile

@RogersDave

Hi, I just received my new CODA-4582 today

Firmware is: 2.0.10.6

Can I have the latest version pushed to my modem please?

Thanks!

Re: Rogers Hitron CODA-4582 Hardware

@calvinzhou Dave will require your modem's MAC address which can be found at the back of the modem on on the modem's STATUS page which comes up when you log into the modem.

To send the MAC address to Dave, click on his name (link) @RogersDave to navigate to his public page.  Select the right hand link to "Send this user a private message"  That will take you to the message composition page which is already addressed.  Fill in a title and in the details add your modem's MAC address, requesting firmware version 2.0.10.19

Looking at your frequencies, the Upstream is on the low side as they should be between 35 to 50 dBmV

Upstream Overview
Port ID Frequency (MHz) Modulation Signal strength (dBmV) Channel ID Bandwidth
1 30596000 ATDMA - 64QAM 30.250 4 6400000
2 38596000 ATDMA - 64QAM 32.250 6 3200000
3 23700000 ATDMA - 64QAM 29.500 5 6400000

I would normally say to try adding a splitter to increase resistance on the upstream but your downstream levels are ideal now ranging from 0 dBmV to - 3.5 dBmV and adding a splitter would make the levels weaker and that would be on the lower side of the +10 dBmV to - 10 dBmV range. You might want to contact Rogers Support to see if they can check the levels out or send a private message to @CommunityHelps and they can look into this for you.  They can also verify if you are on the correct profile for your Internet plan.  They may require a technician visit to check out the signal coming in to your home or what is coming out at the tap.
