What kind of wireless equipment are you using? For Windows computers, please make sure to tell us the details of the wireless card (you can find that out from the Windows Device Manager), e.g. "Intel Wireless-N 6230"
If you are using a cheap Windows laptop with a lousy single-band 802.11n card, for example, then... 50 megabits/sec sounds perfectly reasonable! Same with some tablets.
Sadly, we've encountered this far too often here - someone gets the 250 (or even the 100) megabit plan, has lousy single-band devices in an environment with lots of neighbours operating 2.4GHz networks, and... wireless performance is very bad.

Hello, @joanne1967
Welcome to the Rogers Community Forums!
Good to know that you are getting more the package speeds on the wired connection. Achieving such high speeds on wireless connection would be tricky, how are you testing the wireless speeds? Would you please clarify about the "ned cable and controller"?
Inviting @roxandtreez @Datalink, @VivienM and @Gdkitty to share the expertise and find a solution.
Thank you all,
RogersMoin

Agree with @VivienM's comments. We've seen this more times than we like to count. Unfortunately its takes prior research and some amount of knowledge that your devices can run higher data rates prior to making the jump to the 250 Mb/s service. Sometimes you won't know until you have a higher data rate modem or router in place that will give you the ability to test those rates with your devices. Can you provide further details as well concerning what networks you are running, 2.4 and 5 Ghz and what is running on those networks.
In addition to the difficulties with the devices, there is also the issue that the combo modems / routers aren't the highest performing wifi devices in the world. This is typical across ISPs, not just Rogers. You might need to consider buying a good router that will give you the performance that you are looking for, in addition to making changes to or with your devices to run higher data rates.
One thing that you can do is load inSSIDer on your laptop to look at the wifi environment and see who you are competing with. Once you see what other modems and routers are running nearby you might be able to switch channels to get slightly better wifi performance. In the 2.4 Ghz space, this might be difficult to impossible due to the number of modems and routers that you might be near. The link below is for the last freebie version. It doesn't show the 802.11ac networks that are running nearby, but there is a new version out now, a pay version that will, and will do so on a normal 802.11n laptop. If you intend to use 802.11ac networks its worth buying for $20 US. So, have a go with this and see whats running nearby.

250/20 Speed & Asus 68u SLOW
Rogers Modem CGN3ACSMR firmware- 4.5.8.16
Asus RT-AC68U firmware- 3.0.0.4.380_3264
I have 250/20 speed, Rogers modem is bridged. When i run a speedttest.net it shows 120/20 even if the test is run with different servers. If i reboot modem and router then the speed is 230/20 range but for couple hours only, then it drop again to half speed. Whats is the issue here? Heres the log from the bridged modem. Please help

I wonder if that 380_3264 firmware could be part of the problem.
I only run my AC68U in access point mode, but I've noticed that with the newest firmware, I seem to see fewer 'bars' on my iPad/iPhone than before...

Hey
We just upgraded our internet from TekSavvy to Rogers Ignite 250u and have noticed that the speed isn't all there. When attempting to stream youtube at 1440p it constantly needs to buffer and at 4k it hardly even loads.
When I do speedtests the numbers are all over the place...
Speedtest.net reports:
Fast.com (netflix's speedtest) reports:
dslreports.com (which I trust the most) reports:
And streaming this video in 4k constantly freezes and needs to buffer ever 2 seconds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pxRHBw-k8M
I had a friend who is also on the 250u package test all of these and they all reported 330 down 20 up, and the youtube video streamed no problem. When we were with the TekSavvy 100 Cable package all of these reported 100mbps no problem, and streaming wasn't an issue.
Some other notes which might be important... With the package we got the CGNM-3552 modem/router combo. We're using it in gateway mode since it's got a better wifi package compared to our router. All of my tests have been done through a wired connection (via cat6 directly into the modem).
Here is the DOCSIS WAN page (I recommend right clicking and opening in a new tab so you can zoom in an see the numbers easier):
Let me know if more information is required, thanks!

I am having these same issues with the 250u internet package and I only have had it 2 days. We have multiple laptops with all having the Qualcomm Atheros Wireless adapters. I have moved the modem and removed and put the filter back on and still nothing changes. We are not gamers for the most part, we don't download anything, streaming is a none issue as well. We stream a little like youtube, but that is it. I watch a couple of webinars a couple times a week, but that was a none issue with my last ISP service. Called tech service and they told us not to game which I thought was a poor answer to our question, but there is not much gaming or streaming here and I only use it for business. So what am I to do about this. I have a home plug as well which is at the back of the house, which is needed to get rid of the dead zones there.. If they play games its only like facebook games so I don't think that would take a lot of bandwidth. Like I said this problem only happened after I switched to rogers

@Rayzor65 I don't understand your question. Are you saying your wireless devices wont connect to the modem, or they connect but it's slow?
