Re: New modem Hitron coda 4582 not working

@SteveAdams what modem did you have before, the white Hitron CODA-4582 or perhaps a black Hitron CGNM-3552 which was authorized at one point to run 500 Mb/s.

Can you post the downstream and upstream signal levels.  You should be able to select each table, one at a time, select, copy and paste into a post.  Park your curser at the top left hand side of the table, hold the shift key down and use the arrow keys to scroll right and down, until you have the entire table selected.  At the point, with the whole table selected, right mouse click, Copy.  Then in a new post, right click, Paste.  That should paste in the whole table.  I'd like to see both downstream and upstream.

Fwiw, the Hitron CODA-4582 has a secondary table that shows the OFDM channel data, divided into multiple sub-bands.  We can't see that data, but tech support can, if they can find it.  I'm wondering if the XB6 modem have the same or similar table that shows the OFDM channel data.  If so, it should show the signal level, signal to noise ratio and the Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) level.  The Hitron CODA-4582 runs at 4096 QAM. I suspect that the XB6 modems should as well.  That QAM level is indicative of the data rate that you can expect to see.  A low QAM level would go along with low signal levels and / or low signal to noise ratios.  The QAM level is a good indication of the performance that you can expect to see, so, a principal question to tech support are "what is or are the QAM levels for the OFDM channel?"  Note that I've run into numerous techs who can't find the OFDM data.  Its either below the current signal level display, or on the next page.  In any event, the Tier I techs don't seem to have a recognition of how important the OFDM channel is to modem operations these days and don't have an appreciation of the importance of that QAM level.

Nice work!  Yup... Lindsay Broadband makes RFoG products as well, and they are a Canadian company.

Now, the next step is to connect the coax cable for your desired wall jack to the ONU's R/F out port so that you can connect your modem.

Orchidsfl,

What province are you located in?  and are you a new customer to Rogers?

Re: New modem Hitron coda 4582 not working

I had the white Hitron.  The service tech was in YET again today and could find no issues with my system.  Other than the fact that he did a wired connection speed test which yielded a 100 dl speed and 4 upload speed.  For some reason (could be on purpose) My responses here are being sent into a loop where they will not post correctly.  So My modem information will not post here.  Needless to say, my CCTS complaint will stand and I will be forcing it now.  They still refuse to put me back on the legacy system.  Meanwhile, if I am reading this thread correctly, the OP is a new rogers customer who just received a Coda modem for a new 2 year contract.  Which means Rogers are feeding me a line of you know what.

Guess time to start migrating my email to a new one so I can leave this junk system ASAP!

Re: New modem Hitron coda 4582 not working

@SteveAdams ok, if you can't get the signal levels to post, I'd suggest sending a message to @CommunityHelps which is the collective address for the moderators.  Follow that link to their public page and follow the link to "send this use a private message".  That will lead to the message composition page.  Fill in the subject and details and hit send.  When you're logged into the forum, look for a number overlaying your avatar in the upper right hand corner, to indicate a mention or inbound message.  Follow that avatar, which is also a link down to the message inbox.

In the details include your account number so that the moderators can have a look at the file notes and look up the modems's MAC address.  You could also include the modem's MAC address which should be found in a details page in the modem's user interface.  Ask the mods to have a look at the modem's signal levels to see if there is anything unusual that shows up.

See what you can make out of that.  At this point I am ready to toss it all out on the lawn.

Not sure if I am reading this right but it looks like you are getting a ton of uncorrectable codeword errors on your downstream OFDM channel; it should be close to zero.  The QAM channel uncorrectables are mostly all zero, which is good.

Signal levels are mostly within spec but also not normal, and the relatively high number of correctable codeword errors on the downstream QAM channels might also be indicative of marginal line conditions.  How long has your modem been running for since its last reboot?  (The error stats are just counters, so you interpret things differently depending on whether the uptime is 5 minutes, 5 hours, or 5 days... and you also need to see how the stats trend over time.)

You should definitely get the @CommunityHelps  team engaged and have this looked at.  Until then, don't reset your modem.
