Re: Internet keeps crashing for 1-3 seconds.

Redemption, your comment about desktop CMOS battery is a couple of weeks old so not sure this still applies, but those batteries are easy to find and replace.  They're all the same and are dime-sized batteries equivalent to CR2032 and 3V.  They can be found at places like Canada Computers and usually found near the cash register exits.    They're inexpensive at roughtly a couple of $ if I remember correcly.

If you do replace it, you will need to go into the BIOS settings and re-set date, time and any other specific settings you might have had in the bios since everything will go back to default after change.

Re: Internet keeps crashing for 1-3 seconds.

Wow so sorry for such a late reply.    I admit i totally forgot about the thread but my problems are still the same unfortunately.    I got some more information if you can still help me out.   I have a utp 4Cat 5E cable 4 pairs for all my 3 computers.  Also to be more precise the CGN3 is located in the living room of our apartment in a horizontal position.  My internet still freezes for roughly 1-3 seconds and when ever i still use  vent i have multiple clones of myself.   The strange thing is when i am in a game such as counterstrike or league of legends only ventrilo seems to disconnect when i have this issue.  I don't actually get dced ingame or feel any lag what so ever.    The problem is more frequent if i am on ventrilo and just browsing the internet.  But all in all, It's pretty random.  Here is my latest downstream and upstream.

Re: Internet keeps crashing for 1-3 seconds.

There is a definite difference in your signal levels from the last time you posted them.  Did you have a tech out to check the cabling?  If that didn't happen, what did you do to change the signal levels, if anything?

Can you paste in the upstream table as well?

The first thing I would do is stand the CGN3 upright.  The problem with laying it horizontal is that you might lay it down with the populated side (components) down, trapping the heat within the components and causing it to overheat. Standing upright allowing it to cool might help to clear some of the problems.

Re: Internet keeps crashing for 1-3 seconds.

Quite a number have noticed the heat on the CGN3.

I do even remember.. WAY back someone was having something similar.. and WAS becasue theirs was horizontal.. they put vertical and alot of it went away.

I think the unit might have been overheating.

Re: Internet keeps crashing for 1-3 seconds.

I didn't have anybody come out yet.    I have not gotten around to it yet but i may have to.   Nothing has changed since the time i post those very old downstreams.  Same cables..same everything..   Is my current signal levels bad?   I took your suggestion and started having it upright.   These are are my current downstreams and upsteams.

Re: Internet keeps crashing for 1-3 seconds.

Both downstream and upstream are elevated.  The downstream isn't too bad, the target is 0 dBmV, but the upstream is close to the upper 51 dBmV limit.  Its a little strange to see both of them elevated.  Normally, with the upstream where it is, I would expect to see the downstream numbers down below 0 dBmV.  Those numbers should be ok, for now, but I would be keeping an eye on them to see if the upstream gets any worse and goes higher.  Can you have a look at where the cable enters your home and see if there is an inline amplifier installed.  They can hide problems with cables and connectors and make it a little more difficult to diagnose issues with them.

Re: Internet keeps crashing for 1-3 seconds.

The problem is im not allowed to go to the roof because the superattendant is really strict  with that.  She did tell me that nothing has been changed out of the ordinary.    So I'm 99% sure we dont have a inline amplifieir.   I've noticed something very odd though.   Scenario 1: I am playing league of legends and while i am waiting in the lobby no disconnects happen at all i can sayy for sure 100% i never dc in lobby.   Scenario 2:  Same situation as scenario 1 but this time i am alt tabbed out to browse the internet while i wait in lobby i am alot more likely to dc(maybe 50-60% of the time) same thing with other games like diablo..etc    basically what i gathered is i dont actually dc off any online game unless  im browsing..   odd...

Re: Internet keeps crashing for 1-3 seconds.

Is it only when you play LoL or other games that you notice this?  If so, I would attribute that to game server issues, or path issues from where you are to the server.  Browser issues come to mind as well, specifically the number of connections that the browser is currently allowed to use.  You can change that easily in Firefox, don't know about Chrome or IE.  If it happens at other times, then I would say to call tech support and have a tech come out to check the cabling and connectors.  Your upstream levels were high, so its probable that you are having problems with the cabling or connectors.

Re: Internet keeps crashing for 1-3 seconds.

it happens only when i am in the lobby of league.   I never disconnect when i am actually playing.   I was listening to some music and reading some manga and when my vent would crash a few times(sometimes it said no connection under network sometimes it still says connected when i disconnec)  I tried alot of fixes, but yeah it turns out...

My family is thinking of switching our internet package with this http://www.rogers.com/consumer/bundles?gclid=CNbGso38mMQCFY0AaQodLkUAYA#

ROGERS IGNITE™ BUNDLE 3

Save about $35 overall on our bill.  I was just wondering currently I'm on the 500gb hybrid plan with cgn3.  If i go on this Rogers Ignite 100U(Speed doesn't mater that much to me,  Unlimited ftw) will i  have to useThe cgn3? the cgn3 is a rental so   I would prefer to use something else. Our household does not use wireless connections,  everything is purely wired hopefully  w/e the new thing will be it may fix my internet crashing problems and save money in the process.   I remember when we upgrades to the cgn3 thats when all of my disconnect problems started happening.  And since i am an existing rogers costumer I dont have to pay the on time fee correct?(I don't remember if i had to do this long time ago)   Thanks for your help.

Re: Internet keeps crashing for 1-3 seconds.

its the CGN3... lots of complaints about lag (latency)... try pinging the router direct  (ping -n 20 192.168.0.1) when wired in and see what you get

if you're WIFI, you'll experience intermittent issues for sure... wired in, probably
