Re: Intermittent disconnects

Just to point out, if you intend to move to a TPIA, that TPIA will be using Rogers cable system.  With a TPIA, resolving technical issues is tougher due to the hoops and loops that Rogers and other large ISP demand before a tech is ever dispatched for the problem.  That's an ongoing issue between the large incumbents and the TPIAs.

If fibre is available in your building, that's a whole different ball game.  If that was the case, I'd say "what are you still doing on cable?"

Re: Intermittent disconnects

Yes, they have bell FTTN here. I was on Rogers because of the competitive pricing. but what's the point if the service is in shambles? I'll move on.

I've had Teksavvy, even Acanac before all of this. Never had issues like this. Brutal. Intermittent connectivity issues make Rogers seem like a third rate TPIA, honestly. Zero communication, zero followup, zero resolution. I assume most people just realize what a mess this is and just move on.

Bell's offering $43 for fibre right now. Last day though, I think.

Re: Intermittent disconnects

Just putting it here that I've been having similar disconnects for my service that disrupts online gaming and my partner's connection to her network and Skype when she works from home.

First tech replaced the wall outlet cause it was loose.

Second tech split the signal and checked something in the cable room of my condo.

Going to call and ask for a senior tech as per advice here.

I run ping plotter and it is showing huge lag between my modem and the first thing it connects to. I can't find any graphics online to tell me what this means. Does anyone have any ideas?

Re: Intermittent disconnects

Hi @NetsResetting.

Welcome to the community!

Intermittently disconnecting from the internet is incredibly disruptive to say the least. You mentioned it's as if someone's resetting it, can you confirm the following for us?

  1. Does the light pattern on your modem change when the connection drops?
  2. Are you using a wired or a wireless connection?
  3. Are you using your own router?
  4. Does the connection return on it's own or is a reboot of the modem required?

Thanks!

Re: Intermittent disconnects

During the course of the day we can experience 2-3 times when the internet signal stops working and we lose the connection.

1) the computer, tablet and phone are less than 2 feet away from the modem - the phone is connected directly to the modem by cable .

2) when it happens the signal drops from the laptop, tablet and my phone instantly so it's not the WiFi in the connected devices

3) usually it is back in operation in 60 seconds but can take a few minutes

4) very irritating because my phone is a VOIP service so I drops off during a call.

5) I had a tech here a few months ago but since he couldn't replicate the problem he could only try stuff.
