Hitron CODA 4582 - Bridge Mode Instability and DMZ

brnperes
I've been here awhile

Hey,

everytime I try to run my Hitron on bridge mode it loses connection for 10 seconds, 2 or 3 times every hour.

First I called customer service and was told that I can't run this modem on bridge mode... What? There are even tutorials here on how to bridge it.

Anyway, has this happened with anyone here? Do I have a faulty modem?

I tried adding my personal router ip on the coda DMZ, but it doesn't work. I can't seem to connect to my game server.

How do I know it's the Coda modem's fault? Because everything worked fine on bridge mode (until it disconnected).

I plan to stick around

Thats just an excuse for bad signal, check the signal charts on your DOCSIS WAN page

I went to a Roger store to get myself a new modem, as I was certain mine was faulty. Doesn't seem like it.

I disabled the gateway and it worked for most of the day, but now this is happening when I ping google:

It works and stops continuously.

Re: Hitron CODA 4582 - Bridge Mode Instability and DMZ

@brnperes you have a cable problem of some type.   The upstream DOCSIS 3.0 channels are at or near the failure point, which is the max output power level for the modem.  DOCSIS specs call for 51 dBmV for three or more upstream channels.  Rogers uses 52 dBmV as the max output power level.

The downstream channels appear to be ok, so thats pretty odd to have one channel set running at normal levels and one at the failure point.  Are you using a power amp on the inbound cable by any chance?

Call tech support and as the tech to run a signal check on the modem.  It should fail.  I'd be surprised if it didn't fail, but, that depends on whether the signal check only checks for one bad upstream channel, or if its relies on all of them being above the failure point.  It should fail, at which point the tech should arrange for a field tech to visit your home.  This might be an external issue only, but that's just speculation on my part
