Hello Community,

We are currently offering our users an exclusive opportunity to participate in an upcoming trial of the new firmware for our Rocket Wi-Fi Modem (CGN3ACR, CGN3AMR and CGN3ACSMR) and Rocket Gigabit Wi-Fi Modem (CGN3552 and CODA-4582). For details of this program, please see this thread.

This thread will be used for feedback regarding the firmware.  We've invited @RogersSergio@RogersSyd & @RogersBob from our Networking team to participate in this thread.  Your feedback is very valuable and will be used to enhance the firmware before it is released publicly.

Thank you for your continued feedback and support.

@RogersDave

I just got the CODA today and would like to participate to the Firmware Trial. Here is my router info:

Hardware Version 1A
Software Version 2.0.10.13
Gateway Serial Number

I am currently getting 400Mbps-500Mbps down and 50Mbps up which is below the download average 750Mbps-900Mbps I am getting on the 3552. I hope you could get a chance to take a look on the issue.   TIA!

Picked up the new CODA modem today and immediately noticed some wireless issues.  I am on the stock firmware, 2.0.10.13.   Here is my initial findings:

- Wireless ghost network is gone! (good)

- Wireless client packets to do with SMB shares is being blocked or filtered.  I have a default WORKGROUP and any wireless client cannot access SMB shares hosted on my LAN wired NAS.  This was not an issue with the old modem.  For those with .19 or above, is this an issue with you?

I will wait until the beta push to do more intensive testing.

I have the same issue with SMB and wireless, I'm on .19

Re: FEEDBACK - Rogers Rocket Wi-Fi Modem Firmware Trial

I am having the same problem. Apple MacBook Pro Ethernet connected to CODA-4582 (gateway mode). DHCP server does not assign IP address.

Re: FEEDBACK - Rogers Rocket Wi-Fi Modem Firmware Trial

Does it get an IP address with WiFi? what firmware version is the CODA on? I had the same issue with using wired cannot get an ip address from DHCP. I would do a factroy reset and set the CODA up again, then try and see if it works.

DHCP assigns IP addresses to Wi-Fi devices but the same MacBook Pro does not get a DHCP address over Ethernet. CODA-4582 Firmware 2.0.10.6.

Re: FEEDBACK - Rogers Rocket Wi-Fi Modem Firmware Trial

okay that is very old firmware, give the modem 24-48 hours, the CODA should automatically update it's firmware to 2.0.10.19
once it updates do a factory reset and try again. I had the same issue, but with .19 I haven't had the problem.

I'm really hoping .20 does something for me... but I doubt it will.

For months now the speeds in my area have just gone to utter trash... DL's are down to sometimes sub-100 Mbit, uploads are generally around 2-4... rarely every above 10...  This is on the 1000/50 plan.

I've called in and opened so many tickets, they've sent out technicians.. nothing seems to help except that whatever they did in my area 4-6 weeks ago made everything much much worse then it already was.

It's so bad right now that if I saturate my connection (Speedtest, newsgroups), the internet stops working completely (no ping, no DNS resolv, etc).

I've been told my stats look good, but I'm really at a loss here...

Re: FEEDBACK - Rogers Rocket Wi-Fi Modem Firmware Trial

the modem stats looks good, no issues. When you have your speed problems, ask tech support to check other modems in your neighbourhood, that way they can see that it effects everyone and is a local node/CMTS issue.

I've done that many times... they never seem to find anything wrong.

Current production firmware: 2.0.10.19
Current trial firmware: 2.0.10.20

I sure hope 2.0.10.19 is not the current production firmware for the CODA.  There are a lot of wireless funtionality and management issues with this release.  Please push the 2.0.10.20 firware trail to my modem.

Current wireless issues:

- Wireless clients cannot see WORKGROUP hosts by hostname.  "ping -a" to a LAN IP address does not return a hostname.
- Wirless clients do not show up in any "show" button for either displaying wireless clients, the service filter section or from the DHCP reservation scan.
- Wireless 2.4Ghz radio turns off unexpectedly.  Workaround is to toggle from "on" to "off", then back on.
- Any toggling of either the 2.4Gz or 5Ghz radios turns off both radios. (this was in the older modem too)

I've been around

Installed Firmware: 2.0.10.19

Client Browser: Chrome Version 55.0.2883.87 m

Operating System: Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.14393]

When trying to view the connected wireless clients via Status | Wireless | Wireless Clients the overlay that appears doesn't always loading the spinning image due to a connection refused error that is returned from modem.

A page refresh or navigating to any other page causes a dialog box to appear with the following message: "Session timed out, please login!"

You will then be required to sign in again to continue to manage the device.

I'm here a lot

@RogersDave I'm at my wits end... I'm on a CGN3ACR and for the past couple months (ever since 4.5.8.27) my internet has been complete trash. Can you please provide an update here or should I just terminate my contract with Rogers? With ongoing monitoring in PingPlotter I see packet loss approx every 30-40 seconds.

I am plugged directly into the modem right now and have tried resetting it numerous times. Please help 😞

Re: FEEDBACK - Rogers Rocket Wi-Fi Modem Firmware Trial

It's been about a month now with no answers with this acsmr modem since the coda modem it's like Rogers wants us all to switch over to the coda but I'm not still lots of issues , they can't even get the acsmr fixed how are they supposed to get the coda modem working properly

^^^ have you correlated the packet loss with using your connection?

See here, as my speeds (specially UL) start to drop as usual when it gets later in the day I also experience packet loss when saturating my connection:

Just now I ran a speed test and as typical around this time my UL takes a dump:

During the speedtest I also get packet loss:

Which completely breaks the internet for me.  This happens any time I saturate my DL once my UL speeds take a dump.

My stats have actually gotten even better since I last posted them, so it's ceratinly not a connection issue:

Which leaves whatever the heck they broke in my area around Dec 1.  Which made an already bad situation worse.  But no matter how many times I call support, I never get to speak to someone that is actually knowledgable.  It's the same old run around and support questions (did you reboot the modem, did you try by passing the router, blah blah) and nothing ever happens.

Technican who came out last, checked the lines, tested the connection with his laptop, etc... Nothing was found to be wrong. Called his supervisor, they said they can't do anything and I just have to call in again although nothing will change.

Unfortunately Bell doesn't get offer Gigabit in my building just yet (even though I have fiber directly in my unit for the past 6 months!!) but when they do or 3rd party providers have access and will be able to offer FTTH Gigabit I'm out, because what Rogers has done here is disgusting.  I used to have perfectly usable and stable internet even on the 500/20 temp. package... but once they updated my area it's been a complete disaster ever since with ZERO end in sight.

Re: FEEDBACK - Rogers Rocket Wi-Fi Modem Firmware Trial

@NOTORIOUSVR I'm plugged directly into the modem, nothing else using the internet and I see the same random packet loss, so it is not related to connection use.

As well, since the latest update on my modem my upload speeds have drasticly dropped. I used to average 15-18 mbps up, and now I am lucky if I get 8mbps up.

@andrew8 Well one thing is for sure... it's just bad either way you look at it.  UL speeds for me continue to drop as the day goes on, sometimes like you I'm usually be low 8 mbit, more in the 2-4 mbit range which is completely unaccepable.  Of course as the UL speed drops, so does the DL speed and latency increases to unacceptable levels as well.

I've been with Rogers for many, many years and never have I seen this kind of a disaster before.  My speeds were always rock solid until 6-7  months ago and I guess they upsted the CMTS or whatever.

Then again around Nov 30/Dec 1 we had a 2 day outage for the entire building (block maybe even?) and things got even worse.  That said it's really hard to tell what is the fault.  Only thing I know for sure is that it's not the cable line from my modem to the box on the street and it's not my hardware (since like you these issues are present even when I am directly connected to my modem with my laptop).

Rogers may be in a bad place with the choice of their hardware updates, but seriously it's a real drag to have internet that doesn't even work some parts of the day, EVERY single day for the past few months.  Worst part is it seems like the fixes for the firmwares are focused on wifi and nonsese instead of speed and stability of the actual connection.

@andrew8, I just had a look at your modem and there seems to be an issue with your cable signal on the uplink (you can't see that part from the modem status page). It will require a technician visit to address this. It may also require our maintenance team to make some adjustments but the first step is to get a technician to perform measurements on your local cabling.

Once this is done, I also suggest that your swap your modem to a newer modem. You will benefit, if not right away, within a couple of weeks of DOCSIS 3.1.

@lethalsniper, I know you have been waiting for an updated firmware on the CGN3ACSMR. I haven't received one yet from Hitron. As soon as I do, I will update all trial participants to the latest firmware.
