Hello Community,

We are currently offering our users an exclusive opportunity to participate in an upcoming trial of the new firmware for our Rocket Wi-Fi Modem (CGN3ACR, CGN3AMR and CGN3ACSMR) and Rocket Gigabit Wi-Fi Modem (CGN3552 and CODA-4582). For details of this program, please see this thread.

This thread will be used for feedback regarding the firmware.  We've invited @RogersSergio@RogersSyd & @RogersBob from our Networking team to participate in this thread.  Your feedback is very valuable and will be used to enhance the firmware before it is released publicly.

Thank you for your continued feedback and support.

mES19, are you getting disconnected from WiFi?

I just made a change to your modem. Let me know if it improves the situation.

My wife is on wi-fi I'm connected by cord as I am a daytrader and keep losing my quote data feed.

WIFI from the modem is down still working through my R7000 though.

@RogersDave

Dave, today is being a weird day. The Internet stops. Modem still online. I've rebooted the modem. I have the 3552. And the .22 firmware.
Is there a way to get area checked. I posted modem line levels the other day.

Re: FEEDBACK - Rogers Rocket Wi-Fi Modem Firmware Trial

Everything looks normal from our end. Your modem was however restarted recently so it doesn't have any logs for me to analyze the disconnects at this point.

The WiFi issue may however be related to the change i've done. Can you perform one final test for me and simply reboot your modem (remove the power cord for a few seconds).

If that doesn't resolve your issues, I can downgrade your modem back to the previous version.

WIFI is now just fine and no disconnects. Will monitor.

Hi Mythen,

I just had a look at the signal levels in your area and don't see anything abnormal. There was something 2 days ago but it seems all resolved now.

Your downstream SNR is roughly around 35 dB which is well within spec.

Your upstream SNR (you can't see this one from the modem) varies between 32 to 37 dB which is also within spec.

Re: FEEDBACK - Rogers Rocket Wi-Fi Modem Firmware Trial

@RogersDave can I also get my signal levels check from your end. I recently had issues and they said it was fixed there was noice issue and also am I getting them.27 beta firmware ?

I'm a senior advisor

We lost our stable connections to the router from the street level yesterday - we were getting packet loss at 27% to 100% and a couple in the neighbourhood had small losses - the tech on the phone did an excellent job of troubleshooting, along with me doing some from my end.  They sent someone out to check the street level this morning and things were back up by 10 a.m

By the way, Dave, what version are we going to end up on having pushed out to all of us - I am on 4.5.8.22 right now.

Every once in awhile the the internet just stops.  Lights on the modem are all good.  Then it starts again.  Only way I can explain its like a huge lag spike that lasts like 5 to 10 sec.  About a month ago all lines to my apt were replaced.  And the modem has been replaced.

Also why only using 2 channels for Upload? If I remember correctly i had 3 channels with .22 firmware?

Yes I had 3 Upstream Channels Before so why only 2 now? http://communityforums.rogers.com/t5/forums/forumtopicpage/board-id/Getting_connected/message-id/335... Smiley Frustrated

Re: FEEDBACK - Rogers Rocket Wi-Fi Modem Firmware Trial

@Triple_Helix I would say that you have a cable or connector issue on the go.  Call tech support and ask the CSR to run a signal check on your modem.  That check should fail automatically due to the missing upstream channel, which in turn should lead to a tech visit to inspect/replace any cabling or connectors that are probably aging and failing.   Your signal levels are very odd to say the least.  The downstream levels are pretty high, still in spec, but high nonetheless.  Your upstream levels are also climbing which usually indicates a cable failure in progress.  So, that's an odd combination to see, high downstream and high upstream levels.  Are you in an apartment, condo, highrise building of some type?  That is usually where the high downstream levels have usually been seen in the past.

I live in a house and the main Cable Juntion box for my side of the street is about 5 meters away from my Modem. I will call and wait to hear from @RogersDave to see what he has to say on the subject.

I was on beta firmware, but am now back to running 4.5.8.22 on a CGN3ACSMR and I've noticed that the "Connected Devices" table is incomplete.   For example, I have a Synology server at 192.168.0.2  , but it doesn't show up on the Hitron connected devices table.  It's definitely online and other software like IP scanner see it fine.  I've noticed this on this Hitron and the previous Hitron I had in August and September, so I think it's a lingering issue.  I've also noticed the same thing with other devices on my network that don't show up with an IPv4 address in the table from time to time.

Re: FEEDBACK - Rogers Rocket Wi-Fi Modem Firmware Trial

The external cable leading to your home can be absolutely fine, right up to the very day that it fails.  Been there, seen that.  So, is there a chance that you have some odd firmware issue, there is always a remote chance.  A firmware reset would probably resolve that.  I'd believe in a cable failure before I believe that a firmware problem has come up.

Edit: if you get a tech out to your home and the tech finds that there is no problem with the cable and its connectors and then proves the point with a spare modem, that would be worth knowing.  If a factory reset for your current modem didn't resolve the issue, all of those facts, when combined, points to either a firmware issue or perhaps a modem failure.  There is always a possibility of a modem failure, which would be a pain given the timing.  A modem failure following a firmware change points to a firmware problem, but, it might be nothing more than a coincidence.  You can't rule out anything when you change firmware.

Triple_Helix,

Yesterday, I verified a few items for the users including yourself that reported uplink issues. I noticed that your modem was actually connected to a single uplink channel. On your modem it goes from 1 to 2 but it should be 3. I sent this off to one of the CMTS engineer for his feedback and he came back to me this morning that there is indeed an issue but based on the measurements from your modem and your neighbours, he doesn't believe there is an RF issue in your neighborhood that would cause this type of problem.

It is also very unlikely that the firmware caused this issue but it is possible that the problem is caused by a faulty modem. The recommendation from the CMTS engineer is to have your modem replaced as a first step and then take it from there if you are still experiencing problems.

Dave

Re: FEEDBACK - Rogers Rocket Wi-Fi Modem Firmware Trial

Okay so my modem got the .27 beta firmware but now when running speed test hard wired I'm now getting lower upload I would get 20-22 on .22 firm now I'm getting 12-15 and also jitter is quite higher

I plan to stick around

I had this issue at my apartment a few months back and I think Datalink is also correct.

Im my case they had to replace the connector in the mainbox for my apartment.

The repair guy said they sometimes go bad after a couple years.

I did everything from replacing cable lines to replacing modems and that was the only thing that solved the problem.

Also is everyone with upload issues running in gateway mode?

I don't seem to have any problems on .27 with a R7000 running Asus Merlin.
