I'm back!! And not happy about it. After spending 3 days not being able to use Rogers email on computers - pop version, but could use Rogers email on iPhones - imap version - iIT HAS NOW SWITCHED!!! Now we cannot use our emails on our phones - keeps asking for password - I enter them, doesn't accept them! I know it's right - they work on out computers, and I just changed them in the last few days with all the trouble on the computer emails!!

This is so unbelievable annoying! I just do not want to have to spend hours trying to figure out this next stage of email woes!!

Anyone else having this issue? It just started a short while ago.

Thanks,

Deborah

Yes I have seen a few pop-ups from my Outlook 2016 email client and i just check the box and continue, it happens from time time and i don't think it has anything to do with this issue.

I just got off the phone with Rogers tech support, and they said to have pop.broadband.rogers.com as the incoming mail server, which I originally had when I first saw the certificate error about a week ago.  I switched back to this, and also unchecked the "Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)", which I did have checked before, but no luck.  I had the full email address in all along.

In sending a test mail to myself in the webmail app, things go through fine.  I am using MS Outlook 2016.  What else is left to try?

I've had the same problem since last Wednesday: can't fetch email through my Android phone, but it works fine on desktops (Thunderbird) and via web browser. I've tried pretty well every solution discussed in this thread so far and still no luck. Wasting too much time on this! Guess I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and delete my Rogers email account from my phone and then set it up again. Hope that works...

@CB140

did you try setting the phone to use IMAP?

Yes confirmed in your account settings for your email under logon information you now have to insert the full email address under User Name, not just your name before the @rogers.com.

Once you put in username@rogers.com under the User Name it worked.

@gp-se

to do that, I'll have to delete the POP account first (it won't let me just change the existing account to IMAP)

@when I go into account settings in Outlook, choose the user account you want to update, I am using a POP3 account, then under Login Information put in your full email address - username@rogers.com along with your password.  Originally under Login Information I just had my username without the @rogers.com and I guess that is why it was coming up it could not connect to download email

Re: Email POP Certificate not valid anymore pop.broadband.rogers.com

Just to follow up - my problem now is not with pop or Outlook - it's with imap on my iPhone - and my husbands,

Error message we keep getting is "the user name or password for "email address" is incorrect" but it's not!!

I am looking at switching my husband and myself to gmail!! WHat else can you do???

Re: Email POP Certificate not valid anymore pop.broadband.rogers.com

Oh - and from all of my emails disappearing a few days back when the Rogers "help" changed my password - she walked me through sending a message to Yahoo https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN2552.html to retreive my emails - no word from them!!

And they keep disappearing - I have checked my settings - they are not meant to be removed!!

Be aware that the settings in the client (like Outlook) can affect what happens on the server. On my Mac Outlook 2011 Preferences - Account - Advanced - Server settings, I can set whether e-mails are to be left on the server or not.  If this is not set up properly, what happens is the messages are not left on the server once they are downloaded to one device and also cannot then be seen on another device.  Sounds like this may be happening to you?

This is where IMAP can come in handy because the messages are kept on the server and can be "seen" from any device, which is helpful for anyone who accesses e-mail from more than one device.  You may wish to consult with an expert (or young person) on setting this all up properly, although the "young person" may know nothing about say a desktop computer settings since they may do everything on their phone/tablet.

This thread is regarding the issue with POP.  I'm not sure if you are "allowed" to run POP from say a desktop and IMAP from a mobile (I only run a desktop).  You may need to use the appropriate IMAP settings for all your devices.

This may have come about as a result of the POP certificate change which has forced some people to change their server settings.

Someone with more experience that I will have to comment.

I'm Here A Lot

Thanks for response, but our email has worked for years as pop on computer and imap on phones so why now, suddenly all of this trouble?

These are not newly set up email accounts.

And now this morning my email on the computer keeps asking for passowrd and not accepting it!!

Mentally I am finding this exhausting, I just DO NOT want to have to deal with this anymore!! Just preparing myself to call Rogers yet again and see if they can sort it out.

In an earlier post I wasn't sure if you could operate POP and IMAP on different devices. After some research, apparently you can, however, you may run into issues if you operate different devices, like say a desktop computer, an iPad and a cell phone.  With IMAP properly set up, the varies devices will be "in synch" and will all contain the same e-mails.  This requires a connection to work, but that connection should be available most times.

If one device is POP, then, although you may work "offline" on that device, the other devices may not synch properly, so if you delete an e-mail on one device, it may still be present on another.  Or, if not properly set up, if you download to a POP device with incorrect settings, the e-mails will not even be viewable on the other devices. The default settings on most e-mail clients (like Outlook) for POP will delete the e-mails on the Yahoo/Rogers server.

If you operate more than one device for e-mails, IMAP is recommended for all devices.

A few more items came to mind recently.

1. If your e-mails are no longer in your Yahoo in-box and you don't have them on one of your devices, perhaps you can find them in the Yahoo "Trash" folder. E-mails may be moved there and kept for a certain period of time, depending on your Yahoo settings.

2. If e-mails are on one device, but not another, you should be able to "forward" those e-mails so that you have them on the other device. Just remember not to "reply"  on the other device since you'll be replying to yourself on forwarded e-mails.

3. If the e-mails are not available anywhere, try contacting Yahoo as they may be able to "recover" them...

if you read through the thread..  double check your account settings.

if you only have username in there, change it to your full email address.

Try to use "legacy.pop.mail.yahoo.com" as your Incoming mail server

Instead of "pop.broadband.rogers.com"

p.s. I am using Outlook 2007
