The technician visited my house today and couldn't solve the problem. He changed the modem, swap the split, no help. In the end, he directly hook the modem to the out door line,  got the same speed (<500kbps upload). Then he said that our area is overloaded, he can't do anything about it. Although he is very nice and patient, I am not happy with the outcome.  I know that everyone is working from home these days, but I can't imagine company like Rogers didn't have enough capacity for future growth. BTW, I have been working with Rogers back and forth since end of Feb, and nothing has been done to improve or fix the problem. They just kept asking me to reboot modem, change new modems or upgrade my service to higher tier.  Totally waste of my time. I went with Rogers instead of other cheaper subcontractor of Rogers because I can get better service in case I uncounted problem.  But now I can tell "better" service is just a joke. This forum is way useful than the support line.

@dannychenca can you repost the signal levels again?  I'd like to see what happened with the upstream channels.

sure, keep in mind that this is a newer modem (white tower one) now, and just installed three hours ago. 

I just did a speed test using Rogers speed test with my laptop directly wired connect to the modem, I got 12.4Mbps download, 0.6Mbps upload.

@dannychenca your DOCSIS 3.0 signal levels look ok.  There's a roll-off at both end of the downstream channel frequencies, but, that shouldn't cause any issues.  The upstream channels are higher than normal but, their well within spec.  Thats a big improvement from running a single channel.  

 

The modem you have is the CODA-4582.  That modem uses the DOCSIS 3.1 OFDM channel for downstream data but there isn't enough data in the user interface to determine the health of the OFDM channel.  I don't expect to see any issues with that OFDM channel but a lot can happen within the frequency span of that channel.  Tech support could tell you if that channel was running within spec.  

 

When you connect to the modem via ethernet, is that ethernet port to ethernet port, or ethernet port on the modem to a gigabit USB 3.0 or 3.1 adapter?   Just curious as I've never seen good speed test results with a USB adapter.  When you connect to the modem via ethernet, have a look at the back of the modem, specifically the connected port LED.   It should be flashing amber for a 1 Gb/s connection rate between the modem and connected device port.  Flashing green indicates a 10/100 Mb/s connection rate.  If you log into the modem and navigate to the ADVANCED tab, you should be able to see the connection rates for all of the connected ports.

Thats a 1 Gb/s server. 

 

The Rogers test sites at www.speedtest.net can also be used.  The Rogers Toronto site is a 10 Gb/s site, not sure of the other sites, Montreal or Moncton for example.  To see all of the Rogers speedtest sites, when you're at www.speedtest.net, type in Rogers into the entry window.  That will show all of the Rogers sites.  Try the Rogers Toronto or Montreal sites, depending on which is closer, just to see if there's any difference.

So I called into tech support and they said I had signal issues and dispatched a tech.  The tech said he fixed my signal issues and left, my upload is still maxing out at 16MBps

@lbrasi83 you were better off before the tech arrived.  Are you seeing slow uploads over ethernet, wifi or both?

I am experiencing slow uploads on wifi and hard wire.

 

tech support and the technician mentioned my modem was reporting in "red" whatever that means.

@lbrasi83 that could mean that your signal levels aren't with spec.  Did tech support arrange a tech visit again see what the problem might be?

 

Can you repost your signal levels, just to see where they are at the present time.

Before the tech arrived my connection setup to the modem was as follows;

 

I had cable TV when this was originally setup (no longer have cable TV)

RFoG -> antronix 8 way splitter -> (Input) 9db return path attenuator - (Output ) modem)
