Any idea when this hourly disconnect will stop in northern NB

I wouldn't be asking if it were not for the fact that this is occuring to others I know that have Rogers in my vicinity (100KM radius).

This is what is going on. Let's say you reset your modem at 1:01pm well it will be perfect till 2:01pm then it disconnects for about 1 min (enough time to lose your IP "yellow exclamation mark" then retreave it again)

Friend and I were on voice chat and playing the "Oh it's amost xx:22 your turn to disconnect... " then once he'd be back .. he'd say well your turn next it's almost xx:41.

So doubt it's something to do with our modems...

This is why I am asking, when is this going to stop?

its not directly the modem as far as we have seen so far from here..

it seems its a lease/renew issue.. likey commming from the other end.

Your both using the modem as a gateway, no other router, etc?
Using a 3rd party router, with the unit in bridged mode, some have found luck with it not renewing the same way.

Re: Any idea when this hourly disconnect will stop in northern NB

thank you for the response.

Yeah both of us are using our routers out of the box straight pipe to our pcs

He's got an SMC one, no idea what that looks like

I have a Hitron, it's the fisherprice looking one with the black casing and red light pokadot hole punches.

He's got a tech coming over but he will be pushing for a new modem, not sure if that will help.

I on the other hand was told that my issue was being pushed upwards instead of handed down to a tech.

Same problem 2 solutions, let's hope one works.

For future references,

Another thing you may also want to try is to select the following settings on your modem: WPA2 and AES.

Hope this helps.
