Samsung Frame TV and X-R 15 Remote Issues

mubashir56

I replaced my Samsung Smart 4K TV a couple of weeks back with Samsung Frame TV along with a Samsung HW-A550 Sound bar.
Connected my Xi6-T Ignite TV Box to the Samsung One Connect Box through HDMI 1 port.
Connected the Sound bar from it's HDMI eARC to One Connect Box's eARC HDMI port

Upon trying to setup XR-15 remote to work the following is the result:

Ignite XR-15 remote will turn the TV on but it cannot turn it off. When the TV turns on, the sound bar turns on.
Volume control button on the Ignite remote does not work
Ignite Remote cannot turn the TV off.
Ignite Remote will change channels, respond to voice commands.

Having gone through discussion forums, XR-15's manual and YouTube videos I have not been able to find a solution. Also went through Rogers Tech Support person with no luck.

Is Samsung Frame compatible with Ignite XR-15 remote or should we wait for a firmware update?

FYI, this same problem has also been reported in the Comcast support forums: https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/x1/remote-doesnt-turn-offon-tv/602da758c5375f08cde58d9f

See the last post on the page.  I could not find any follow-up posts as to how (or if) this got resolved.

Well, there seems to be a bittersweet ending!

Samsung Frame TV Remote can turn on all the devices including Ignite TV box, change Rogers channels, control the sound bar volume and turn everything off !!

@mubashir56  Have another look at the posts on the Samsung site.  The suggestion there was to try using Code Scan to find a working code.

You can also use the Code Finder on https://www.urcsupport.com/rogers/ to find the specific code for your TV or (several!) alternate Samsung codes to try as well to see what works the best.  You just need to find one working code that will allow you to turn your TV on and off.

Hi,

Been there done that already. However no harm in trying again.

Thanks for your help.

@mubashir56  If you still can't get this working, your best bet may be to contact Samsung support for guidance since they know the quirks of this TV.  The Samsung Community Forum has discussions involving people trying to control the Frame with a (non-Samsung) IR remote, so you may be able to get some help there... and I also found this post by another person who has a working configuration with an XR15 remote: https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Qled-and-Frame/TV-sound-on-when-Sound-Bar-is-set-as-sound-source...
