Hi Gdkitty,

2.  Does Netflix work in 4K on the ignite box? I already have the 4k package for my smart TV.

I asked my concierge but he didn't know questions 2 and 3.

Thanks!

Yes 4k will play with the Ignite Netflix app. The same as when using the Netflix app on my smart tv.

Re: Ignite TV Guide/Images

@Gdkitty Can you post the pictures of the modem/router that is being used for the new Ignite service? I would like to see its size, shape and type of ports that are available.

Thanks.

Re: Ignite TV Guide/Images

Dont have access to it right now, as I am away.
But this is it

It takes up about the same space as the other most current modems at rogers like the CODA, etc.

As per the picture, it has 2 phone ports for the home phone.  Its bigest downside.. only two ethernet ports.

Re: Ignite TV Guide/Images

So the home phone service coming out of the cable modem as well?

The reason I ask is that when I was at the Rogers store at SQ1 and asked the staff how it works; the staff said they would give me a "wireless home phone".  I asked him to clarify whether this is a "cell tower to analog phone adapter" and he said yes.  (I was skeptical about his comments.)

Re: Ignite TV Guide/Images

The wireless home phone I do not think is part of the Ignite TV bundle. It has it's own phone based on the cable connection. More or less IP based but not part of the home networking systems.

Re: Ignite TV Guide/Images

Just switched over to ignite tv. The one thing I lost from my old cable which makes me very mad is I was able to look at the preview and reviews of the movie. And the biography of the actors in the tv shows and movies. This is a big loss for me

To each its own; I don't have Ignite currently but I have no issues with the lack of such features.  If I want reviews, I'll look at rottentomato.com.  If I want learn more about the actors, I'll visit imdb.com or their personal websites, Facebook or Twitter feeds.  I have used Rogers in the past and Bell at the present, I have never used these features on the TV.

Re: Ignite TV Guide/Images

Hello    I've gone everywhere on the site trying to find an answer and I'm really thinking you might be my last chance! We just recently switched to Ignite and we HATE the guide. It is almost impossible to read. The font is grey on a black background - there MUST be a way to make the font white or blue or yellow or something that makes it readable.  We tried going to the settings and changing the background colour which did nothing at all - what we want to change is the font colour.  We also went to the enhanced accessibility option and changed the font size - this actually did make the font white on black instead of grey on black which is what we wanted - BUT - the font is so big that you can only get the first word of the title of the TV show.  PLEASE tell me there is an option that makes the font smaller but BRIGHTER - there is no way that we are the only family struggling to read it.   A few people have recommended that we just use the voice option but that only works IF we know the name of the program we want to watch - but we need to scroll through all the options first to see what's on and THEN the voice option works.  Thank you in advance if you can help because right now we're really wishing we'd never switched over to Ignite.

Re: Ignite TV Guide/Images

I don't have IgniteTV, however, are you not seeing something similar to the first few posts of this thread?

Is it possible that your TV's picture settings for Contrast  (White Level) or Brightness (Black Level), or some other automatic picture setting is causing this problem?

It is true that Ignite is possibly less suited to "surfing", than some... but the readability of the guide cannot be so bad that "you really wish you never switched".   If it really is THAT bad, then it must be the brightness-contrast-saturation settings of your TV.

It may be true that the matrix only shows a partial name, but the complete description of the program is in the bottom half of the screen.  So you can surf down the list of channels for any particular time , and get the full description of each program in that time slot.   This is particularly better with the enhanced text "on" because it makes the description panel larger.

If you do not surf by channel, or by program name (both of which you can obtain with the voice control), then I would be interested in just how you DO use the guide??

By the way, you may find it useful to bring up the guide on a tablet with the igniteTV app, where you can scroll it much faster than on the TV
