Ignite TV App for Mac

Recently, Ignite would not launch on my Mac desktop computer. Contacted service via Live Chat and no help. Tried to re-download the app for Mac and it said my 'device was not compatible'. Looked further and it said M1 chip was required. The M1 chip, as far as I can discern, is only in the newest of the new Mac's released. The chip is not mentioned on Ignite home page as 'required' but on Mac App page, I can not download Ignite app because my system apparently does not meet requirement of having the chip. Any feedback? Live Chat agents do not seem to have any clue when it comes to a Mac user. Meanwhile, Ignite will not launch on my Mac, which we use as a 2nd TV as it has 27" monitor.

@BBQfan1  Rogers has an Ignite TV app for iOS, and I think what you are seeing is the ability to run iOS apps on Apple Silicon Macs.  There is also a (known?) problem with https://ignitetv.rogers.com/ not working with Safari 15.  Have you tried accessing the site with a different browser?

Yes, I use Safari version 15, if that is 'an issue'. Not sure why I always get asked to try another browser; Safari is default and I am used to it and it fits the parameters listed as required on Ignite page of website. Maybe I'm stubborn, but I don't want to download/install Chrome or other just to watch TV on the computer when my computer supposedly meets requirements.

Safari has worked well in the past but something changed in Safari 15 and this is causing problems for Rogers (and Comcast) users that watch TV on their Macs.

FYI, a Comcast customer reported that the problem has been fixed in Safari 15.1, which is currently in beta.

I Plan to Stick Around

Just to add.

I'm having an issue when trying to use the app on Apple Silicon (Just to note. I have Safari 15.1 and now works with web watching) as well.

But for the rogers app. I get it switching to my default browser to Authenticate. But get this error in my browser.

Safari can't open the specified address.
Safari can't open "ignitetv://auth?
activationCode=dabbd3d5df040c309294b92ca82e636c&partnerld=rogers&response
Code=200+0k" because macOS doesn't recognize Internet addresses starting with
"ignitetv:"

As part of my 2X online chat sessions, I ended up deleting the app on the computer and trying to reinstall, where I got message 'your computer is not compatible with Ignite app' saying it needed the M1 chip. Now that my computer has upgraded to Monterey O/S and 15.1 Safari, this is what I get now:

You’re in the right place to watch Ignite TV, but our records show that you don’t have this service.

To learn more or get Ignite TV, please visit the Rogers website.

Now what?!!?
