Charges not made!!!

JeannineaB
I plan to stick around
We recently got a credit in Rogers communications because two phones were returned. Therefore, we have a negative in our account. We only use the Rogers Bank credit card for the purchases of anything to do with Rogers communications. We have not purchased anything at all. We have been charged $861.64. We do not owe this and they keep on charging us interest. I called Rogers Bank and they said I had to call Rogers communications.. I called Rogers communications and they proved that I have indeed a negative amount in there of credit. They told me they could not see anything to do with the credit card and to call the credit card company again. (She was very helpful tho and answered other questions I had professionally ) However, I am not dealing with going back and forth back and forth back and forth like I did with other things. My husband has just finished chemo and we have had enough to deal with in our life!! We want the credit card to return the money that we have paid into a charge that was not made. We are very disappointed in the communication and the dealings with this Rogers Bank credit card. We do not owe them money at all. We've always had good standing in our credit cards and we've always paid the Rogers Bank credit card off. But we do not owe this last charge. Nor should we have had to pay interest that he has made payments on because we do not want to have bad credit. But we do not owe the money. I'm not dealing with another representative in this Bank because I'm not dealing with going back and forth explaining myself over and over and over and over. We do not need this stress and we would like this solved please. It's not fair to treat customers this way. Especially the ones that are in good standing and are doing their best. We have had enough stress in our life for the past almost year and we do not need any more! I'm hoping I get a response to this please. And I'm hoping that our money that we have paid into this account because we've been told we owe it, which we don't, is returned and that we get an amount of zero owing. Please respond to this. Please help us out.( I looked on our bill for this Bank and it says in February there was a new purchase of $ $886.86. This is false. This is the credit that we have on our Rogers but on the Bank statement it says we purchased and they did not take it off after Rogers communications did for the cell phone statement)

I am not sure you understand how credit card works, when you use a credit card to make a big purchase such as a phone, even if you returned the phone a month later, you still need to pay the Credit Card balance in full, otherwise you are ruining your credit rating.   Even if the amount was credited on your cellphone bill, that has nothing to do with your credit card.  I would never ever let my credit card accumulate an unpaid bill, that is just going to open up a bigger problem with your credit rating.   Rogers does not give the money back to your credit card when you return a phone and get a refund, never has, and no other company does this. why cant you just pay it to avoid potential financial ruins then ask rogers to mail you a check with the credit you have on your account, even if it takes a few weeks, then you put that in your bank account for a rainy day

I do know how a credit card works. We did not purchase the phone. The phone was on a plan the plan was done we returned the phone back because it was on the type of plan that you only have it for a while and when the plan is up you return it. We were charged for the phone even though we returned it which was what the plan said to do. So we did not purchase a phone. And our credit is very good we have been paying it off before this big amount came on each time that we got a bill because the phones at that time were under Rogers we would pay the bill. This charge is because for some reason Rogers communications and Rogers Bank are not communicating. At first when we return the phones because that's what the plan was. We were charged after speaking to a representative and explaining my situation and the fact that the phones were returned, they then credited us the amount that they took out. Which is the same amount as is on the credit card balance. So for that reason they are not communicating and the balance was not taken off our credit card. I thank you for getting back to me but we do know how to credit card works. And we would like something done about it please. It is not charge that is not something we did. There's been no communication once again I'm saying to between Rogers communication and the credit card company.

Rogers Credit Card is just like any other credit card like say TD Visa.  You have to treat Rogers CC and Rogers Communications as separate companies and they will not communicate with each other, which you seem to expect.

If Rogers Communications charged your credit card erroneously, you will need to discuss the matter with Rogers Communications (who supply your phone and now have your phone) and have them supply a credit to Rogers CC or a cheque to you.  Neither one will remove a balance from your CC, only Rogers Communications will  provide a credit (or cheque) to compensate if there was an error.

The thing is as we called Rogers communications and explained the situation. I was told that I had to call the credit card company. The credit card company told me to call Rogers communications. I do have proof saying that in February we were charged for a new purchase which we did not do. We did not buy the phones we did not buy anything like that in february or any other month except when we bought the phones way back last year. The phones are on a plan saying that we had them for the 2 years and then we return them. The girls return them as expected and Rogers communications charged us for those phones but then again after talking to them they reimbursed the money on the communications bill. So we had a credit. But then it still states that we have a new purchase on the credit card. What we do not have. I have called both places and both of them tell me to call the other one. This is very disappointing. And I was hoping that you would be able to help me instead of reprimanding me and treating me like I don't know what I'm doing or that I don't know what a credit card is. I don't think I'm being treated very well or spoke to very nicely. I can hear the sarcasm in the way you're writing your words. I realize you have a job to do but I was hoping that that part was going to be helping me and my husband get the money taken off without having to talk back and forth to both companies and getting nowhere.

Neither @Pauly , nor I "have jobs to do". We are customers like yourself who are here to help you resolve issues. This is a peer-to-peer forum where customers help each other.

If the credit that Rogers Communications provided to your account is not adequate for what you want, you will need to either use up that credit in the months to come, or have them change the credit to a cheque to you or a credit to the credit card, both of which may be more difficult to obtain, despite the error possibly lying with Rogers Communications.

I do not know why you were told to call the credit card company - that was probably incorrect information and they simply wanted to get you off the phone by pointing a finger at someone else.  Happens all the time.

I suppose there is one thing you could have done with the credit card company and that is to dispute the charge as soon as it appeared. That may be difficult if it's been some time since the charge appeared.

Please note that posts are very difficult to read/comprehend if you don't utilize paragraphs - just a tip to get posts read and understood.

I am here to merely give advice, I am not a representative or employee of the company, I am a customer just like you are.   I have learned and given advice about Rogers and other cell phone companies since the late 90's to many of my family members and close friends and everyone has appreciated my advice and has not only saved money but saved themself from the headaches dealing with these cellphone companies.

One of my biggest piece of advice is to buy a phone outright, and do it in person from a store, not over the phone or online. yes it might be a bit of a financial challenge, but you will never have to deal with these stupid nonsense billing charges and credit backs and what not.

Thank you for your response and your help.

I didn't know this was a customer to customer thing but now I do I thought you were a representative that worked for Rogers LOL.
