switching to unlocked phone from iPhone 4s

Hi, Just received my iPhone 6, which is unlocked. I am switching from a 4s, and have a data plan with 3g(phone is only capable of 3g, i dont know what data speed my plan has). Before I switch the sim cards (making the switch permanent), I would like to know if I would be able to get LTE on my iPhone 6 and not 3g. I am a rogers customer and my plan doesn't specify if it is 3g or lte, just that it is a generic data plan. I would much rather give my phone to my dad who Im sure has LTE on his plan, than to use just 3g on the 6.

Yes you would be able to. All data plans which are for smartphones include LTE as well. The plans don't say if they are 3G or LTE but it's included.
