Hey, ive been having this lag problems for about a month now but havent had time to contact rogers about it. basically im lagging during online fps gaming, i get people complaining all the time im warping or spot walking. there are times where ill randomly disconnect from the game to the lobby. I also noticed lag when loading pages in the browser too. Ive tried power reset the router couple times, no change. What can i do to fix this in the meantime? I will call rogers tomorrow when i have time.
Can you log into the modem, navigate to the STATUS..... DOCSIS WAN page, copy the downstream and upstream tables and paste them into this thread. Don't worry about how the data looks when its pasted in. I'll sort it out if I have to.
Can you also look at the first status page, specifically the software version. By now you should be running version 18.104.22.168. Can you confirm that as well.
|Port ID||Frequency (MHz)||Modulation||Signal strength (dBmV)||Channel ID||Signal noise ratio (dB)|
|Port ID||Frequency (MHz)||Modulation||Signal strength (dBmV)||Channel ID||BandWidth|
|1||23700000||ATDMA - 64QAM||41.500||3||6400000|
|2||30596000||ATDMA - 64QAM||42.000||2||6400000|
|3||38596000||ATDMA - 64QAM||43.000||1||3200000|
The downstream signal levels and signal to noise ratios are good. The upstream levels are elevated slightly, above their normal 36 to 40 dBmV range, but overall, they're good. You shouldn't have any issues with those.
Can you run a wired speedtest using http://speedcheck.rogers.com/en.html and www.speedtest.net using the Toronto Telus server and let us know what the results are. Also indicate what internet plan you are on, 60/10, 100/10 or 250/20?
Can you also sketch out what is on your network, both for wired and wireless devices so that we know what is connected and how it connects?
im on the ignite 2 bundle which is 100/10.
the modem is in my sisters room, i have 2 ethernet cables about 9ft running right across to my room to my brothers pc and my ps3. Another cable is ran upstairs to my sisters pc which is about 15 ft with the drilled hole. My brother and parents laptop upstairs use wifi. I game on my laptop but i use the ethernet cable from my ps3.
With the signal levels ok.. and the speed looking ok..
Next thing really to look at would be the pathing and route the data is taking to get from your place to the end server.
Is it at all possible to get the IP addresses of the servers you were/are playing on .. and then we can do some tracert's on them to check the pathing.
Ok, what game are you playing on your laptop? Do you have port forwarding set up for the laptop game?
Do you have any problems playing on your PS3 and do you have port forwarding set up for the PS3 or are you using UPNP on the modem and using the setup function on the PS3? Note that the combination of the CGN3ACSMR with the PS3 or PS4 has been a problem for some users, while others haven't had any issue with that combo. The firmware version that you have on the modem is a vast improvement over the previous version, but, consider the fact that there still might be lingering issues in the firmware which are causing problems for the PS3s and PS4s.
