moving to city with same area code but different calling zone

I'm moving to a new town that is in the same area code but it's considered long distance from my current number. Do I need to get a whole new number or can they just do some sort of switch so it won't incur long distance charges?

Cheers

Hello cwharrie

I am sure they can just add a long distance plan or change your plan for unlimited long distance. Give them a call & see what your options are.

You can change your telephone number, but there is a $25 charge, unless they have changed it.

As meowmix said, depending on your current plan, may be worth checking you plan vs the current ones, and what you pay for it.  All the plans now have unlimited long distance.

what sort of plan did you get from Rogers? cause most plans I get I'm able to use my phone in another city as long as I'm in the same province.
