Re: iTunes account to download free apps?

In order to access the App Store through your phone, or iTunes on your computer, a free iTunes account is required. Follow the prompts to set up your account to start enjoying all of the available apps for the iPhone.

Re: iTunes account to download free apps?

Sometimes people get stock on the Credit card part.

With the iTunes store you don't need to give your credit card if your only going to make free app purchases.

When it asks what type of card you will be using - e.g Visa, MasterCard .. choose the none option.

Also You  can't use your iTunes balance to purchase apps in the Canadian iTunes store (only credit cards).

I believe you can now use gift cards to buy apps in Canada. iPhone in Canada talks about it here.
