There are several posts on Redboard showing that Rogers is not even following the wait list and has shipped many iphones out of sequence with the reservation/preorder system. I was #145 for black 16 gb iphone 4s - still "in progress". Someone in Montreal was #440 for the same black 16 gb. His was shipped on Oct 13 and arrived on the 14th. Other similar stories. This is sad and completely unethical. Occupy wallstreet wins again.
Hi, I have just received my 4S today in Canada. Right now, I don't have a SIM card so I can't activate the iPhone. I'm thinking of just using my mom's SIM card to activate the phone, but would that interfere with any settings when I do get my own SIM card?
Here is little tale, guy walks into Bell store and about 45min later walks out with what he wanted, 2 iPhone4s 64GB, he then proceeds and cancels his services with Rogers not being deterred by 30 days cancelation notes or sudden availably of iPhone4s with promise of immediate shipping. Moral of the story is that if you setup reservation system, make sure that those customers who reserved one get their devices first especially if they are your existing customers or even more especially those that are out of contract already.
Thanks for the quick reply inferno.
So it will be fine using my mom's SIM just for activation? I just want to play around with it once I get my own SIM.
For those people in Vancouver, I was number 7 on the reservation list and have yet to receive my phone. My status stayed on In progress for a week and then just changed to shipped. However, according to the tracking number it is still at Concord so I do not know what they are waiting for. If yours just changed to in progress expect to wait a week and then another week for it to arrive.
As of right now, no store in Vancouver has any phones from the reservation system. May be faster to just go check your store everyday and cancel your reservation. Everyone I know who didn't bother getting a reservation has a phone and those of my friends who did reserve don't have one yet. Personally I don't care about waiting so I'm just going to wait until it arrives but if your still in Open Status, expect to wait about three weeks before your phone actually arrives.
Edit: Phone has left Concord and is expected to arrive on Thursday. Funny thing is my friend who was number 127, his phone (the exact same one I ordered) has arrived at YVR so I do not think they are following the order.
Just went to the store to pick up my 32G Black after seeing the UPS tracker say DELIVERED. "Sorry sir, we don't have any."
I spoke with a retention specialist. Waste of time. First he tried to sell me another phone. Then he went on to explain that “in progress” is a state that usually lasts 3-5 business days (that is a week for the working people) and that when changed to “shipping” can last another 3-5 business days. That would mean a total of 2 weeks for some people who reserved – like myself. I am #145 iphone black 4s 16 gb. He also stated that I should have gone to the store if I wanted the phone on Friday. He told me that anyone on this site that states that they received the iphone 4s through the reservation system on Friday is lying. Iphones were not even shipped till Oct 14 and it takes 3-5 business for delivery. Rogers needs to get better people. He did not seem too concerned about me going to Bell or Telus.
Two weeks is about right once you switch to In Progress. According to tracking info I won't get my phone until Thursday which is about 11 days from when it went "In Progress". Like I said before, if your status is still in "Open" status, be prepared to wait at least three weeks to a month.
They are prioritizing shipments for first come first serve as it caters to new activation people.
