It sounds like something is up with your hosts file.

There are many virus's which can do this, etc.

You want to browse to the following folder.

C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\

In there, should be a hosts  file.

Open this in notepad.

On a normal machine, unless there is specific redirection set up for something, this should be BLANK below the comment section at the top.
If you have stuff there, remove it all, save the file, and the re try going to google.

Just had this exact issue right after installing new modem.  One of my bookmarks had been hijacked to redirect to Rogers home page.

Tech support advised clearing the cache on the browser, FF, which fixed it.

Re: google.ca redirects to http://www.rogers.com/web/Rogers.portal

I have been a rogers client for over a year now and this issue occured with my explorer I couldnt fix it so I started using firefox which solved the problem for awhile now firefox redirects most of my sites including my home page back to this rogers portal, really annoying! I cleared the cache for firefox this seemed to have worked, just want to know what causes this and if its a rogers issue or random virus, its hard enough that rogers provided the worst internet service and customer care now they want to haunt my browsing too??? so frusttating

Service and care.. is a personal view on it.. my service and care for internet has been fine with rogers... but was aful with some of the competitors in the past.

Now, do you have one of their gateway/modems?  If so, did you use the usb key to set it up? Some people found that it hyjacked their browsers that way.  Havent heard anything recently on it though.

Otherwise, likely its a general browser hyjack, often caused by malware, etc.

One major spot to look, as i said in one of my posts above, is the hosts file.

C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\
Open the hosts file in notepad.  The only real entry in there, unless you have specific apps which need it, is usualy 127.0.0.1    Localhost.

Any other entries, normaly can be removed.
