Wiped phones for emergency use

I have three old school Blackberry's sitting in a drawer, two with SIM cards , one without.  All have been wiped and have fully charged batteries and are in working condition.

For the ones with SIM cards, I was thinking of just leaving them in the car glove compartments, on the assumption that:

-they will work for emergency use, even without an active plan or phone number

-emergency means 911

Are these assumptions correct????

Hello @Mediaman,

Both phones will work for emergency calls without an active plan/number as long as a tower is in range.

Thanks,
