I live in Thunder Bay Ontario, where Rogers is partnered with and supplies phones for Tbaytel.
My wife is eligible to upgrade to a new device, so I went to get her a Lumia 1020. Checked with every outlet and no Windows phones are in stock or able to be ordered. At the end of life cycle I was told.
Not sure what to do now. I only want a Windows phone. Hopefully new models will come out soon. At least her old Lumia 900 is still going strong.
I would suggest keeping the Lumia 900 for as long as you can as there are rumours that a Windows 10 flagship device may be announced at the Mobile World Congress in March. There are also rumours that the phones may be available in the early summer (May-June rumours). It might be different for us Canadians however and the release may be later.
I myself was thinking of using my upgrade to get the Lumia 830 (only windows phone "budget flagship" offered" but after doing some research I felt that my Lumia 920 performed the same if not better and that I would just be wasting my upgrade. I also thought of buying a windows phone outright, but that is expensive.
If the Lumia 900 doesn't last until the windows 10 release, I would recommend buying a cheaper windows phone like the Lumia 520 or Lumia 620 online cheap to bridge that gap until the 10 release and then use your upgrade for a Flagship model. You can get a unlocked Lumia 520 on www.expansys.ca for $138.
