Will Scientific Atlanta 2203C modem connect to the net?

Rogers put a Scientific Atlanta 2203C cable modem in my fuse panel where the wiring comes into the house, with connections to the phones and PC modem upstairs.  The ethernet and USB ports on the back are unused, and I wondered if anyone has used either of these to connect to a nearby PC for an internet connection.  The 2203 manual says it will connect to a PC for internet use, but Rogers tech said the modem is only for the phones, not to connect to a PC.   Has anyone ever connected it to a PC?  Thx.

in the tech specs, the unit CAN be a D2 modem.. and connect stuff off of it, etc.. IF its set up that way.

BUT, rogers is not.

more than anything, because their PHONE is setup to use a different frequency range than their TV and internet.. so cant talk to the right system anyways.
