Unable to login to Hitron CGN2-ROG modem

I'm trying to login to my  Hitron CGN2-ROG  modem at  http://192.168.0.1/login.asp and i'm using the username "cusadmin" and password "password" as instructed on the back of the modem. However, when I try logging in with this login info I get a message saying that the login failed. 

Any idea of what the issue is? Thanks

Was it ever changed at any point?

You could try a hard reset on the device (hold the reset in for a good 10+ seconds).
Or you can call into tech support, they should be able to log in via their login into the device, and reset the password for you.

Exchanged my cisco for the hitron modem. Trying to configure the modem but anytime I visit http://192.168.0.1/login.asp and input cusadmin and password nothing happens when I click login. I'm kind of confused on how to factory reset this. Do you hold down the power button after it is off or when booting back up? Also it did not come with a usb

seems you cant login using google chrome... I tried internet explorer with the same cusadmin/password and it logged me in

Are there advanced settings for this modem/router? I can't seem to find a setting to change the username or put the thing into bridged mode

If that doesn't work, it might have been changed
(Which is actually a good idea to change the password for it)

If you call in I believe rogers can reset it for you.

Alternatively, you could do a hardest and set it back to factory defaults, but would have to set up all settings again

Some of the modems are already program with others SSID. on the back of the modem is the Rogers SSID (rogers----) with 5 numbers.

DO a hard reset, 10 seconds, small button at the back. unplug after and plug back in.

monitor your computer wireless until the you see the Rogers----- (your modem five numbers)

Then you can use that rogers ID and Password they give you or use the USB sitck.

Note: even with the stick you still sometimes have to pick your SSID (rogers-----)

Personal opinion, don't use the USB stick.  Login to the modem using a wired connection with a pc, bring up a web browser and enter 192.168.0.1 into the address bar to bring up the login page.  User name is cusadmin, password is password.  Login using that method and navigate through the various web interface pages to set the various parameters.  The only useful things that the USB stick will do is set up a guest account and allow for limited parental controls.  If you really need a guest account, you can do so using the newer CGN3ACR ( through tech support only ), or you can purchase a good third party router which will give you that ability and much more, with better control over the various features.

The modem password and wifi network names should be changed from their default values to entries that have random characters, numbers and symbols, which will prevent modem or network hacking.

when the tech installed your modem/router, he must have asked you for a password, username remains the default, try some personal passwords

If you use the USB key to set up your wifi, it also changes the login password for the modem. CSR tech support can log into it and reset the login password back to the default one for you though (just make sure to tell them it's the password to actually log into the modem you want to change, and not the wifi one), but then the USB key won't be able to connect properly any more. I believe there's a place in the EasyConnect/CiscoConnect software that lets you see that changed password, though, but I'm not sure exactly where it is in there. Maybe under Advanced settings.

A factory reset should also put the login info back to the default listed on the modem, but it will also wipe out any other changes you made, including your wifi name/password. You can factory reset any of the modems by holding a toothpick or pin or something firmly into the pinhole for about 45 seconds. The modem will then reboot; once it's back up you should be able to log in with the default info.

That goes for any of the Rogers gateway combo modems, not just the Hitron ones. Technically if you hold the reset button in long enough it should do the same thing but the pinhole seems to work better.

The password gets changed to the new Passphrase that is generated by the USB auto-configuration (that you then use to connect to the internet). No need for a hard reset or calling rogers.

Try a modem restart.  Unplug the modem power from the wall socket, wait for 30 seconds and plug it back in.  That usually cures a reluctant modem.  Beyond that, you might have to run a factory reset and reset all of the parameters after the reboot.

You can also call tech support to reset the password to one that you want to use.

IMPORTANT UPDATE!

Rogers seems to have recently pushed a firmware update to all these Hitron modems. I have done many hard resets before, and the default username and password would always go back to cusadmin and password.

However, today after a hard reset, I was redirected to a new GUI setup called "Rogers EasyConnect" ... it tested the modem for connection to the internet, then asked me to set up my wifi SSID and password.

After doing this it changed the default login password to the wi-fi password! Took me almost 15 minutes to figure this out -- couldn't imagine why it would do that without telling me!

Just wanted to let everyone know for future reference.

The new Hitron modems , Extremly ugly by the way. automatically set the modem access password to your wifi password when you first install.  The 'password' password is no longer used because even during a hard reset you have to first auto setup using the Rogers quick setup tool

If you first go through the Rogers setup routine before accessing the router through 192.168.0.1 the WiFi login password also become the router password!

It should be printed on the back of the modem.  Most likely:

username:  cusadmin  ( this cannot be changed)

password;  password   (this can be changed after logging into the modem)

The username and password as indicated above would be in effect after a factory reset.  To do that, depress the recessed reset button at the back of the modem for 30 seconds and release it.  That will initiate a factory reset and reboot.  After that, use 192.168.0.1 as your web browser address to access the login page.  You will need to use something sharp like a pen tip to depress the reset button.

The issue might be that you have used the Rogers EasyConnect Wifi setup option before trying to log in to your router. IF you did this then the Quick Wifi setup will automatically change your default password (which really is "password") to whatever you just set as your wifi network password as.  Thus it won't let you in when you type in "password". What you should do is type in your network password (thats the one you type in when you try to get on your wifi).  That did the trick for me.
