Internet gets slow after a few months...
Hey all,
I’ve been a Rogers customer since January. I have the ignite 150 internet. When I first got it it was blazing fast but lately it’s been getting slow and even the wifi range is not as good. I’ve tried resetting the router and even called Rogers and they said everything is fine on their end.
Just curious is this has happened to anybody else. Do you have any suggestions to make it like it was when I got it?

@danashreesawant are you seeing slower data rates for both ethernet and wifi connected devices, or just with wifi devices?
Can you log into the modem, navigate to the STATUS .... DOCSIS WAN tab, copy the lower signal level table, from the Downstream Overview, all the way to the bottom right of the table. Paste that into a post so we can have a look at it. The copy and paste process will paste in the text contents of that table.

Hi, I have 1Gig internet but the max speed when directly connected to the coda 4582 is 90megs at best. A tech came by and said everything is fine but after going through the forums it seems my signal strength is in the negatives when they should be closer to 0. I've pasted what I see in the modem. The only decent speeds is when I connect to 5Ghz wireless and I get 130meg down. Sometimes i'll get 700meg down on 5Ghz but I wouldn't say it's constant.
Any help would be appreciated.

I would be concerned as well if I'm getting only 90 Mbps on a wired connection for a Gigabit Internet package.
Primarily please make sure your computer is negotiating 1000 Mbps link with the modem. There should be a flashing amber light on the Ethernet port to which your computer is connected. If it is flashing green then the link speed in 10/100 Mbps.
It's good to know that you were getting 700 Mbps on the 5 GHz network. Since the range on 5 GHz is limited the speed will drop if you were to move away from the modem.
As for the signal levels, they should be ideally close to zero. We can run a few tests from our side; please send us a private message at @CommunityHelps. You can find details about our private messaging in this blog.

So I have had enough of Rogers inferior internet. Your service is so bad I can't get on the internet sometimes. It take 30 seconds to load a web page. Forget about watching Youtube or other streaming service. I can't get WiFi in my home because your service is so lacking in quality. On top of that you have raised my monthly price even though I was told that my price wont change . Lying . Very nice.
I am so disappointed in your service. I wont recommend it to anyone.

I just had a new modem installed, and upgraded my speeds to 500. After a few days, I'm seeing about 85mbps average. This is wireless, standing right beside the modem. I'm going to try a wired connection later but wondering if this is normal? I'm in the Ottawa area

@fbad can you run a wired speedtest with the modem in Gateway mode (default mode). Please include the www.speedtest.net Toronto Vmedia and Montreal Ebox servers. You could also use http://speedtest.googlefiber.net/
I won't say that the wifi speeds that you're seeing are typical, but, their not unusual for new modem installations. First item on the list is to look at the wired speeds and then possibly look at the signal levels to see if anything stands out.
With that in mind, can you have a look at the following post and follow the same instructions. This is normally a step by step process to rule out any issues, adjust the wifi settings to obtain the best wifi performance possible out of the modem, and then determine what can be done in terms of wifi channels to improve the two way wifi performance.
This post is aimed at a router wifi performance problem, but, its basically the same as what you are seeing from your results:

Hey there, I just did the wired test using the servers you noted. My speeds are fast - about 400 and 550 respectively. Wired using the default servers in Ottawa is still slow <100.
Does this mean the Ottawa servers are slow? Can I redirect the modem in some way?
