Samsung Galaxy S2

I've Been Here Awhile

I spoke with a Rogers rep and he said that they will not be getting the S2 yet. He said probably not until earliest September, but more likely even later in the year.

Too bad...its an amazing phone, but I've been saving my upgrade for months and months for the S2 only to be disappointed that I have to wait for everyone else to get it first. Smiley Sad

A question for the peoples who already got their phones. Did you get the 8GB microSD with the phone? I belive I saw somewhere that it comes with a 8GB micro-SD but mine didn't have it.

???

I don't think it comes with one.  There's 16 GB built into the phone, don't know why it would come with an extra 8GB out of the box.

You must be mistaking it for the HTC EVO 3D which comes with an 8gb card.

I'll try to find the site where it said. Even the guy that is selling it on ebay (see soonday14's post earlier) lists it with 8GB microSD included... it might be just a copy-and-paste issue but it made me wonder. That's why I wanted to see if anyone found one in the box.

First time I've heard of this, and I've been following this phone since it was announced.

Pretty sure I saw it on the gsmarena reviews that it came with a 8gb one. And maybe the non LTE ones on like bell or telus but not for the Rogers LTE version

No your wrong. The Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE does not come with a 8GB memory card in it. No where in any review or any page does it say it comes with it. You either read the wrong info or read on another phone that you thought it woudl have been this one. Here is a link to the GSMArena page where it shows the ATT version of the same phone Rogers has:

Are you blind.. Look at the picture of the phone. Now look at the pictures that people have posted with the Rogers s2 LTE one. The phone is differnt.. The one i showed you is the correct one..  See how my link the S2 LTE shows SkyRocket i27. Now look the the images i provided. Same one. 🙂

Here is the link to the pictures as well if you do not believe me 🙂

I was thinking the same but ...it take 4.5 gb to load this phone?

I'm not blind. Fully aware of what your saying and showing. Letting you know that hen peopl looked up the s2 LTE that's what they based it on bc people weren't sure what version they were getting. So obviously if gsmarena lists out a phone that is the same model name and release date. It's assumed that what they see which would be the 8gb card being included. That's what they will be getting.

Seems like a lot of memory to load the phone that's for sure. But I guess u never know. Unless there are some useless apps you can delete?

Yes people will look up S2 LTE but from the images Rogers & others have shown others will know the right one 🙂 The model you showed is the one in Korea. They are the same exact phone but with different looks & style & Model numbers. Rogers Model number is sgh-i72

Ok, anyways

How is the S2 compared to the raider meowmix?

Re: Samsung Galaxy S2

http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4303&idPhone2=3958
Right their. 🙂

Well the s2 LTE has 480 x 800 pixels, 4.5 inches (~207 ppi pixel density) When the HTC Raider has 540 x 960 pixels, 4.5 inches (~245 ppi pixel density)

Yes we know that the S2 LTE has Super AMOLED Plus But in my eyes when i compare both screens the HTC Raider has a higher res Screen. Colors are vivid on this. The S2 LTE has vivid colors as well but does not show them just right.

Testing the Battery on Both phones with 4G speeds ( not using LTE since i am not going to be paying for it) HTC Raider battery lasted me 15 Hours of hardcore use VS the s2 LTE lasted me 11 hours doing the same exact stuff on both phones. ( texting, emailing, surfing the web, listening to music & also playing the same games on both phones.)

The HTC Raider has 1.2Ghz Vs the S2 LTE has 1.5ghz. Both phones are fast. the .3 does really nothing to be honest. Its not as fast as it should be. Anyways WIth the Raider you get a LED notification light on the top Left side VS the s2 LTE does not have one & you need to download a app to use the touch sensitive keys to do that ( i would not recommend that seeing as the ligh inside can die faster that way.)

The S2 LTE has a NFC chip in it  VS the HTC Raider that does not have it. Now some are saying that the NFC chip is needed & some Same its not needed. Now to tell you the truth its not really needed why? No stores have NFC equintment to be used on. No stores in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary or Ottawa has them setup. We all buy phones every year or so but when the NFC comes to stores in a year or 2 years then we are all going to buy another phone ( seeing as people buy phones every 2 years)

The HTC has Sence 3.0 VS the S2 LTE has touchwiz. They are both nice but the s2 LTE one looks like a iPhone with the same icons & such. ( some may disgree but a lot of people will agree with this.) The style the icons just the same as Apple did with the 4 row one. I have not had a issue with the Sense 3.0 with HTC. I really like it with the weather underneath the clock & such.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S2

Considering u have both. You still would chose the S2 over the raider then?

Re: Samsung Galaxy S2

No not really. My pick would be the HTC Raider. I really love the phone & it has stuff the S2 does not have. I will not get into that seeing as it will be a lot to write down lol. As for my S2 LTE well i might be giving it to one of my cow workers as a gift OR i might sell it & give the money to a family that needs it. So in all i am sticking to my HTC Raider.

I will say this tho. The S2 LTE is a amazing phone overall. You guys will love it if you do not already do. For me i love HTC rather the S2. Samsung reminds me more of iPhone's. The icons on the Samsung phone's remind me of iPhone icons. The same rows & everything. This is one thing I HATE about any Samsung phone that has it. This is 1 reason why i would not pick it. Also my other reason being that the Battery died 3 afters less then my HTC Raider did. Considering i travel on the GO train & TTC bus i would want to be able to use that extra 3 hours. Also no cases are found for the S2 LTE where the HTC Raider has cases already out for it.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S2

Rogers Plus on @ Victoria Park and Gerrard have 2 S2 LTE's left... thanks for the heads up!!

One rep didn't want to give me the phone... said I needed to upgrade to LTE... got it eventually as his

co-worker had a bit more knowledge on the data services.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S2

You really do not need a LTE data plan. I am using both S2 LTE & my HTC Raider without a LTE data plan. You can use your normal data plan on it. ( you will not be able to use LTE tho ONLY 3G / 4G speeds you can use.)

I just called the store & they only have 1 left.. So if i was someone that lives near Victoria park & Gerrard ( Toronto) & i would call really fast & get it.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S2

agreed!! the heads up was for anyone wanting the phone... the rep told me that i couldn't get the phone unless i updated the plan and there was no way after telling him otherwise that he would of gave it to me.. not sure where the lack of training was as his co-worker new that i did't need one... doesn't make sense as they were both trained on the phones..

Honestly their is a new rule that is going around that you MIGHT need to get a LTE data plan with a LTE phone but it sounds stupid seeing as you can just switch off LTE & use it with a normal data. Reps sometimes do not know this so they go by what they hear.
