Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 x (Unlocked GSM/WCDMA)

HomeR365
I've Been Here Awhile

Hey there group.  I purchased an unlocked Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 x based on the following band information:

Supported 2G Modes/Bands
GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

Supported 3G Modes/Bands
HSDPA 850/1900/2100 MHz

Upon receiving the phone, I learned my network options are GSM or WCDMA.  Through everything I've read, I am at the understanding that Rogers DOES have a 3G WCDMA band as well.  When I insert my SIM card, I CAN register and function on the GSM band.  The phone will not register though on the WCDMA band.  I tried several APN setting just in case, but this hasn't helped.

Should this phone work with Rogers?  I'm wonering if the phone is looking to only use the 850Mhz CDMA band and maybe Rogers is only on the 1900 MHz?

I appreciate any insight that is offered.

Cheers

Hello HomeR365

WCDMA is ONLY supported by Bell & Telus. You are wrong. Rogers does NOT support WCDMA. Rogers only Supports GSM/ EDGE/3G & 4G & LTE.

Bell & Telus support GSM/ WCDMA / 3G / 4G & LTE.

This is why the phone is not working on WCDMA on Rogers.

Sorry to bug you again about this.  In theory then, a Fido phone unlocked will work on regular Rogers?  Do you happen to know of a website that easily groups which carriers can be mixed?

Thanks Meowmix, don't spend too much time looking, I spend a lot myself, and there isn't anything that is just super easy to follow.  I'm aware now that my choice of unlocked phone are going to be either rogers or fido.

thanks again
