I'm not biased.... but after this, when my contract ends, I will be switching to Bell Fibe internet WITHOUT a single doubt.
For the past month, my Internet went from bad ... I play mainly FIFA 13 on XBOX 360 (always had to play with lag, as if my players were stuck in mud, can't make passes, couldn't turn... couldn't do anything for three years) to completely and literally unplayable.
Reason I stayed with them for so long was because there are no options... Bell uses phone line internet, and doesn't sound great... but after hearing that they have FTTN (fiber to the node) in my area, I'll be more than glad to try their internet out.
I wanted try playing an OTP game to test out my connection (got ANOTHER new modem because the useless tech support Rogers told me so after getting THREE other modems, with the same problem)
I have a picture of having a red bar connection, but it's on my iPhone, so I'll upload that later... but take a look at this when I pinged google.com and google.ca :
851ms and 231ms? Is that a sad joke? After calling them 15+ times in two weeks, they kept brushing me off saying it's a problem with the modem, that there's no problem with the area (no congestion, signal is "fine"),
At first, I told them to send a technician to check the wiring/other possiblue issues, like congestion... but they said they wouldn't do it... until today, I was raging at the tech support and they finally got someone (probably another useless technician) to check it out, just to say "everything is ok" (as always).
So for people experiencing mud lag, button delay... it is NOT EA, IT IS your ISP! Why can others play EA perfectly while some others can't? Because it's the ISP's fault... some people say that FIFA is horrible, but other online games play fine.... well, FIFA uses P2P (and many ISP's throttle P2P traffic)
If you don't believe me, Rogers FIRST denied that they throttled P2P traffic, but FINALLY admitted that they did it and "promised" to stop throttling.
After my contract expires, I will cancel every single service with Rogers.. and that's a promise.
For the past few days, my Internet drive me nuts ... I play league of legends, the internet jst keep me dc from the game.
I can take my rogers cell phone only has one bar signal, or bbut the internet is kind of deal breaker.
i wll find a new provider. i can take this internet no more.

if you read what I said, it doesn't matter who I play, I always lag and feel like my players/team is stuck in quick sand (because of congested internet)
i have three xbox's btw..
an average joe wouldn't notice the lag at all.... only people who play competitvely or for money are sensitive (can tell) the difference between a good connection or not.
when it comes to online gaming, having a good a connection is the #1 thing (even more important than skill) because even if you're good and your connection blows, in COD, you could shoot at someone but your bullets might not register.... in nhl or fifa, your guys feel like they are stuck in mud/quick sand... etc...almost unplayable.
doesn't matter though, I've learned my lesson and done everything that I could possibly have done. only option now is to switch to bell.... at least bell internet is dedicated.
lol and btw, the techinician showed me that 5 of my neighbours (including me) share ONE line... haha. that's embarassing...

Bell fibe is dedicated internet.... rogers isn't... I wish I would have known earlier and didn't lock myself into a contract
As someone who plays on a true competative level, i.e. in-house tournaments, I can say that rogers internet is simply that.
Keep in mind that you could have Gigabit internet speeds but because most console games use 'listen' or p2p servers you are always limited by people with slower connections, especially if you are not the host of the match.
Just some food for thought here...
This is my connection, and I only have 150/10.
It has NEVER been lower, any time I have tested.
Yet, I still manage to lag in matches periodically.
Now, as with everyone else on here, I will point out, that as opposed to trying to ACTUALLY find a SOLUTION to your problem by providing us with more details about your configuration settings, you want to just complain about your service.
We get it, rogers tech support guys are brickbrains...
We, however are not, nor are we fanboys.
Another thing for you to keep in mind that as of current posting, Bell services are far more expensive than rogers are. Both in price per bandwidth, and usage.
You may even have the same issues.
5People on your 'line' means nothing as there are 8 on mine.
Now, I am not sure to the validity of this, but I have had a couple tech guys; who actually knew their 'stuff', tell me that the service is also prioritized by the level of service you have as well, i.e. Ultimate customers take precedence over lite. Which, should most definately be the case, I pay more, I should be treated better kind of logic.
My internet is not without it's issues either. But most were modem/configuration issues.

I have been trying to play on-line games but I just can`t because I got disconnected every 30 seconds.
I have talked yesterday with customer support and they updated the firmware of my Modem and asked to change my modem at a Rogers store if the problem persists... As you can see the problem is still the same.
I just can't play any games with this internet. To watch youtube videos for example is fine, since some package loss does not interfere... But when it comes to games, it is just impossible.
Please someone help me!

Can you indicate what modem you have and where you are located. When I ping google.com I end up with a differen IP address for google and the ping check runs without any issue.
Can you also indicate whether you are connecting via wired or wireless, and if you use both, do you have the same issue with both of them?
Ok, so same results wired and wireless. I'd like to have a look at your cable signal power and signal to noise ratios, just in case. Can you go to the following page and have a look at my CGN3 Downstream and Upstream tables. These are located on the DOCSIS WAN page of the CNG3 interface. I'd like you to log into your CGN3 and copy the Downstream and Upstream table data and paste that data into this thread. Don't copy the IP address and other data that sits above the Downstream table, just the tables themselves.
Edit: There is always the possibility that the path from where you are to the game servers have problems at one or more nodes where there is an interface between companies. If you run a tracert down to the game server you might see that in the results.

The gaming server is not the problem, because I ping google.com as well and I get "Request timed out" at the exatly same time ! "I ping -t on 2 different CMDs".
Ok, your signal power on the Downstream side is a little high, sitting around 2.3 dBmV, target is 0 dbmv. Signal to noise is good. The Upstream is also a little high, averaging around 43dBmV, target is approx 37 to 40. So in both cases well within specs, nothing to worry about.
As I indicated above, the issue could be at any company along the way to the server, and it may not matter if its a game server or google. The only way to have a look at that is to run a trace down to the server, and google.com to see what the results are. Here is an example of a trace to google.com

There are a couple of points here. If I ping the CGN3 I'll typically see anything from 1 to 10 ms, averaging around 4/5 ms. So, to begin with, there is an issue with the CGN3 itself. Hopefully the next firmware version will correct that.
Secondly, if you look at the trace, hop #7 returns a rather large time. Thats actually a google address, which is rather interesting.
So, my question is, what do your results show? if you bring up a command prompt and run tracert www.google.com it might start to show where the some of the problems are coming up. If you select the command prompt symbol at the upper left of the command prompt window, there is a drop down menu you can use to select the window contents and then to copy it. From there you can paste it anywhere, and not have to use an image.

That is a clean trace without any unusually high return times. The jump from your router to the Rogers server is a little high which makes me wonder if you are in an appartment building? I also wonder what a trace would look like to a Canadian server. Looking at the League of Legends site, there are pages upon pages of complaints regarding disconnects from the game. My guess is that this appears to be an ongoing problem that is going to take a long time to sort out. That doesn't explain the poor ping results that you had with google, but the trace at this point looks good. Possibly Gdkitty might have some other ideas on this one.

I think it might give a bit of a clearer picture.
My GUESS.. is that there is packet loss.. somwhere along the above.net nodes..
Some of the major peering partners around the world.. have been having issues, where their routing is actually hitting CAPACITY with the way that most places have their networ/equipment setup.. they litteraly can not route any more information. (its a mix of programming, and hardware layout... a change in hardware layout, can TEMP releive this).
This has happened with some of the major partners like above.net, level3, etc.
Its something OUTSIDE of rogers.. but along the pat from them, to the end source.
Another provider.. MIGHT be better, if they go through a different partner/node.. but no guarantees... often they have a fairly similar path, once they hit the US side.
You are putting your focus on the LOL server, I just said that as an example.
To prove that, yesterday I was playing this game and the problem start to occur, so I logged out and start
to navigate on internet using chrome to normal websites (Facebook, youtube, google, news, etc...) and the problem persists!
In the meantime I let a CMD window open with "ping google.com -t " and I got a lot of package losses.
It was perfect yesterday and it started to happen and I was the only one using internet.
My guess would be: Rogers internet return package loss if it is overloaded during night time, a lot of customers using at the same time and Rogers server cannot provide their service properly.
Again, that is not related to LOL Server I just used as an example.
We are just trying to eliminate the other stuff.
There has been ALOT of issues at the major interconnects between north american ISPs (both canada and US) and many areas with game servers... LoL, WoW, etc.
I play wow and am sometimes active on their forums.. there are tons of people from canada as well as the US posting traces when they are having issues.. and the failing points are at the interconnects (level3, above.net, etc).
So sometimes, it CAN be the issue... just wanting to eliminate that.
If you are getting other packet loss, etc at the same time on everything.. then yes it may be another issue.
That you are on the 24 channel modem already.. it shouldnt be a standard CONGESTION issue or anything like that.
There may be something else at the local node... or even something more local to the street wiring, etc.
While it didnt effect the internet, a few years ago had an issue, where the TV, phone would be FINE.. till around the 8-10pm window.. one of the PRIME TIME areas where the usage in the neibourhood would be HIGHEST overall. Was putting too much strain on SOMETHING.. and was causing issues.
In the end, i beleive they found it to be a faulty line, where until it was more at capacity, it wasnt running into the defect.
Its possible its something like that that is happening.

As when things WORK (like my neibourhood which has now been fixed, great signal, etc).. it works GREAT and fine for gaming. 😕
I've been having the same issue, and it doesn't seem to be video game server related.
It's happened with games, but I'm also getting disconnects every hour or less while browsing.
It's happening across wireless and wired connections.
It's happening at 6PM, 7PM, 8PM, 9PM, 10PM, 11PM, 12AM, 1AM, 2AM....
It's not limited to games, or specific times...it just keeps disconnecting.
Maybe it is a firmware issue on the modem (I'm on a smc3dgn), but either way, it's annoying.
