SIM cards used in Rogers phones possibly vulnerable to NSA and GCHQ spying

I have seen articles that show Gemalto working with Rogers on NFC payments with references to the SIM card. So I don't know that for sure but it sure seems like it might be the case. I'm sure the NSA or GCHQ has no interest in spying on 99.999% of mobile communications but this is just another example of their ultimate powers. Rogers will hopefully confirm or deny their use of this manufacturers SIM cards. Rogers did nothing wrong here - they are just exposed to the problem as are potentially many other Gemalto customers.

Gemalto has released the results of its investigation which found that while there may have been an operation by NSA and GCHA in 2010 and 2011, this did not result in a massive theft of SIM encryption keys. Here’s the link to their news release:
