Rogers employee selling "field test" phones on Kijiji, is this legitimate?
As the title says, I found an ad on Kijiji where the seller claims to be a Rogers employee and is selling a bunch of smartphones (58 smartphones to be exact) which were supposed to be for field testing purposes... Is this legitimate? Or are these actually stolen phones which most likely won't work?
Re: Rogers employee selling "field test" phones on Kijiji, is this legitimate?
Every carrier store does this. The devices can be on display devices or devices given to the store to test them out. The store & the store Manager has the right to sell them if they get the approval from Head office. Once they get the approval, they are able to sell them to people at the store OR over the internet. I rather have them sell it over the store then on the internet.
I can name you 14 Rogers Plus stores here in Toronto which do this & give you a bill receipt & even call Rogers to add the IMEI number to your account.
I would also like to add that you can ask this person for what phone you want & ask them for the IMEI number. IF they give it too you, you can call Rogers & have them run a check on the IMEI number. They will see if its been flagged or not. I sell Rogers phones on Kijiji as well & i give out the IMEI number to the buyer if they want to check it out. I ask the same when buying a phone as well.
If the person does not give you a IMEI & refuses, then i would flag that ad & Notify Kijiji.
In the end, the store Manager has the right to sell them anyway they want.
