I f anybody can tell me if Rogers online protection still protect my laptop if I use my laptop outside of my home or at the School, with a different cable companies.
Antivirus software is a program and should protect your computer no matter where you use it. But I have to reiterate what was said above - ROP is garbage and you would be wise to get something else! Never, under any circumstances, should you ever install any kind of software from Rogers. If you do, you are asking for trouble!
as IHR states, the anti-virus program you use on your PC should protect you no matter where you connect to the Internet: at home, at work, at a WiFi hotspot, or where ever.
And, as IHR, and numerous others have mentioned, do not use ROP. Rogers is not a software vendor, nor are they anti-virus specialists. It just is not their priority.
There are a number of other options available out there, several for free, which you can download off the Internet. So, do a little research, and get yourself something to keep your computer safe.
I keep getting billed for Rogers Online Protection even though I told them three times that I use Kasperskey Security. I stopped using Rogers Online Protection since October 2012 and am still being charged. Anybody know if I could get my $4.99 per month back into my bank account, since October 2012.
I could be wrong, but I believe that Rogers online protection is the one from Kapersky. If you are paying for this garbage, it likely means that you have signed up for Online Protection Premium. You should give them a call and cancel it. There are much better free anti virus programs out there than anything you would get from Rogers!
Why doesn't Rogers offer free registry cleanup, free removal of temporary files and all the other components offered free by Comcast to their US users? For a list of areas covered, check out Norton Security Suite and see what is missing from Rogers. Having to pay for it is unacceptable. Wouldn't it be cheaper to let users manage their own security rather than constantly having to phone the call centres?
Rogers, nor ANY provider, doesnt HAVE to provide any form of system security. That responsibility is 100% on the owner.
That rogers, and others (like comcast), provide anything, is a BONUS to the customer.
Removal of temp files, etc, can all be done through windows for zero cost, or other free software.
Truthfully in the end.. MOST of the time, the software that is provided via the ISPs is SUB PAR software to begin with.. they are not experts in virus protection, etc.
A person is better to use one of the MANY.. FREE other virus/malware solutions out there, which do a much better job to begin with
